Panthers v. Heels

Eiso or smith than.

Spencers biggest issue is he just gets gassed so quickly and becomes a liability around the ruck.

Last night was soo obvious. After 10mins ge was deadset horrible at marker and hes line speed and lateral movement was gone. Others have to carry him.

Moses leota still does to an extent but he doesnt gas out now till after 20 to 25min stints.

Has taken moses 6 or so plus years of fg to realise you cant get lazy at marker.

If spencer is only good for 10 to 15mins stints just use him as that and have eiso on the bench.

Use leota and spencer for shorter all impact stints and eiso and fish to play longer more solid mins where you know no tackles will be missed and just solid allround..

Soro as much as he is a middle can play wider but kiks and martin play big mins anyway so hed just need to give kiks a spell for a bit and than can play wherever.

We simply can not keep carrying kenny/luke and salmon on the bench.
Isn't Spencer on $600k or something, if so that's too much for 10 mins game time.

The refs were shit house both ways last night.

Made for a great spectacle, but yeah was bad.

There is a little known rule called "Downtown Offside". Basically it means that when kicking in general play, chasers cannot advance past the point of the play the ball before the ball does.

It's supposed to be an instant penalty at the point of the play the ball. It's not blown very often, but that's mostly because no team abuses it quite as bad as Parra did last night.

Deadset every kick in the second half, they had 6-7 players in line with the Panthers defensive line when the kick was put in. Even though they gave Edwards 10m to run back, it was just a set wall.

Not even a warning for it. Just completely ignored.

Didn't cost us the game, but it's a bad look.

He just lost control of the ruck and line speed.. trying to be unbiased it was probably both waya but i thought reed and nathan brown in particular were offside literally all night.

The kiks drop is seriously embarrasing for the refs..

The penalty try... my parra mates even said that was a tough one.

My parra mates said the obstruction no try was bs lol. We all knew that any way.

Sutton f@cked up at one point and gave us 6 again when we were on our 30 instead of blowing a penalty. Like do they even know the rules??? Bloody embarrasing..

But we just have to be better.

Like i said last night i just dont think weve been that impressive this year. Weve done what we had too to win. Last night looked no execption... just doing what we had too to win execpt parra turned up and we just werent in good enough form to blow away a team that played near their best.

I dont buy into all the parra talk about all their outs.. waqa is crap and shouldnt get back into that team. Only 2 blokes they had out that will force their way in is maybe sivo and defs nikuore.

We were basically full strength other than sorensen.

A few small changes for next week MUST change now.

1. Nath sort out your short and mid field kicking game.. get your bombs right and land them in right area or find another option. Find some patience with the team and understand we cant just score within 5 tackles against the top sides. Nath and luai were the kings at rolling it in for 6 again not so long ago. Bring it back boys immediatley.

2. Im a big kenny fan. I love how hard he tries and love that he gives it his absolute all every time he wears a panthers jersey BUT.. i think its just clear in a tight game that he isnt trusted to fill the 9 role. Api played the 80 last night.. so we have a few options... i think just leave salmon on the pine as the 14. He can play dummy or any other spot if injury.. than roll with 3 recognised forwards.

Kenny is twice the player of Salmon imo

Eiso can't play backrow.

need to go to market to plug holes
I wouldnt have him playing backrow.

Spencer him front.

Soro can do wherever needed.

I like the idea of shorter sharp stints for keota and spencer. They are much much better in shorter sharp all effort stints.

Eiso and fish can grind away..

Soro can play wherever needed.

Good spot.

It was obvious at the game. Forgot about it myself.

A few things went Parras way I agree. But a few went Penriths also.
A big thing for me was Perhams hit ups where dreadfull. He was man handled and starts to our set where hampered.
I have to give Parra credit. They dug deep and held on. Away from home and missing 3 guys who will come into the starting side.
Sivo, Marata and Waqa cart the ball harder then anyone in the side. Very powerfull ball runners. They will improve the side.

Going into the finals would I be confident of beating you? Not at all. Penrith still move faster and the defense is brutal. But it does give me some hope.

Our last 3 games have been crackers. All decided by 2 points or less bar the game Parra fielded their NSW cup side. It's been some great games to watch between the two sides. You have to appreciate it for what it is. Tense and exciting footy with a few controversial decision. Games when one or two errors cost you. That's the type of rugby league I enjoy. Those boring 30 -10 games are hardly in the same category

6 to 2 penalty count in such a tight game at home is laughable..

There is no way on earth parra were 3x more discplined than us last night.

If we gave away 6 so did they!

There was that one tackle in the first half..think it was on the 4th tackle bout our attacking 40m line.

Liam martin snuck hes head thru..great dominant run. Parra were shot.. moses held onto him for an eternity until they were all back on side... it was embarrasingly long. The whoke crowd was up.. play on for sutton..literally think itbwas nect set we got pinged for holding down to long and wouldve been lucky to be half the time..

Stuff like that is what irks the fans.

It goes both ways but the penalty count deserved to be about even last night.

He just put the whistle away when we had the ball.

Had a number of mom performances. Been their best player of the year by all reports.

Think he set up four trys last week and scored one himself..

I know its only sl.

I know a lot including myself were critical of him last year but hes twice the player salmon is.

And i like what salmon has done for us this year..hes been solid.

But if tmay would come back cheap next year minus the attitude its probs smart business

I've watched it.

He played some good football. Very direct. Playing plenty of first receiver. But you have to counter that with some extremely soft defence from Castleford. They made Tyrone May look like Jason Smith with their line speed.

Contrats Hindy on your teams win. You're right it was a wonderful game.

Going a little off course here at the moment. The sun still rose in the east, up here in the Hunter we are beginning to feel the first 'nip' of wintertime.

It did my heart proud to see last night how shattered the Penrith players were after the game ended. That shows how much they care.

We as Penrith fans have been so blessed to have such a wonderful footy team playing for the Penrith area.

Penrith will be back, bigger and better, ready to fight another day.

Yeah the sl is a step down for sure.

But hes a solid nrl 14.

We need to find or develop the next connor watson..the perfect modern day 14.

I think Luai just suffers from too much of the ball going through Cleary. Felt Cleary tried to control it way too much last night without really doing much at all with the ball.

Agreed. Its a bit all too predictable by the time luai gets it...

Kiks is a freak and does special things.

But id just love to see luai get into first reciever more around tired middles and play direct. A little like how cody does when the times right in a game..

Best game I seen Kikau play just about.

Luai overplays it a little. Almost like he feels he needs to do something rather then just moving the ball. But his strength is his unpredictable and run game.

Many or most on here thought he was going to phone it in this year.

Having arguably hes best season in panthers colours imo.

We had to keep one of him or api.

We under utilise api in attack.. the may thing he does for us is he is the best defensive 9 in the comp and hes line speed over 80 is wuite honestly insane. No one comes close to him.

But given we underutilize him so much in attack i cant help but feel kiks shouldve been kept.

Best 2nd rower in the game.

Why is Reed Mahoney allowed to run 5 metres after a player has kicked the ball, grab him and stop him from following his kick?
It is a deliberate action as he can easily stop or change direction in the time between the kick and the grab. He did it on several occasions last night and prevented Cleary from following his kick, and consistently through the season to other kickers
Just because he doesn’t hit with a tackle doesn’t make it legal.
