He wasn't impressive last year either, he just had more and better opportunities behind a dominant pack, proving that at least 50% of an outside back's form is down to the players around them.

As for NYC coaching, it matters little to their development - it only goes for a couple of years and these kids are part time anyway. An off season with the full time squad is worth more than all the rest of the training though the year.
You keep cheering and waving the Pom poms for quality depth like Vai and Morgan, guys who have been given plenty of chances in first grade especially Morgan. You probably told us all the same Crap about Toupou and Tafua. What's the point of putting all these years into juniors when we let them walk out the door without giving them a decent a crack???? I wouldn't even be commenting if our outside back depth was fine but ATM it's the worst I can remember. I mean people are honestly excited about Robinson coming back. Fair dinkum.

I mean you are telling me this fabulous academy hasn't produced one decent wing prospect in 4 years???

Will you be telling me the same crap when young French doesn't kill it off the bat next season and is moved on for the next batch of sacrificial lambs???

As for coaching it's hard to shine in a poorly coached side and when you are being used as just a battering ram. It's funny the team has improved with a different coach and Change of tactics......

Davis is average. Very over rated. And slow. I'm glad he is looking elsewhere.
Last year I watched h against the Broncos and he ripped them apart and showed all the skills you want at fullback. He was fast, evasive broke tackles at will. The question had to be asked what is going wrong with the development of our juniors???

Only Junior Paulo has come on from strength to strength the last few years while Tep and Pauli have had their moments. Why do players turn to shit as soon as they pull on our Jersey????

Lots of players are good for a game here and there and I'll admit I never saw that 1 Brisbane game. But I have watched him many times over the past 2 years and I have never seen what the fuss is about. And he has always looked slow to me.

We are starting too see some juniors come thru now. Tepai is 19.Pauli is 20. Both under 25 games.Give them a year or two and they will be great players.

You have Jnr-Tepai-Pauli and Terepo who have come thru in the last 3 yrs.
If guys like Twal-fuimano and Aliaoi prove to be as good that shows great amount of talent coming thru in the forwards.

Since Hayne we have not produced a decent back thou. That's almost 10 yrs ago. For me that is quite worrying.

As for Davis and speed. He bulked up 10kgs, i'm guessing that has slowed him down. From what i have said before thou- In the backs if your not killing it in under 20's your not going to make it in the NRL as a star. The good ones (real good ones) are playing first grade by 20.

Bevan seems highly rated but i remember the Marmin barba and Albert Kelly rave. There is something about Bevan that reminds me of those two. But 3rd time luck i hope ;)

We have no problem producing the young forwards it's in the backline that we have really struggled.

I mean the best outside back we have produced in 4 or 5 years is Ryan Morgan. Says it all.

How has Pauli / Tep turned to shit? They are both going ok considering their age. Neither have even had a full year of NRL. The standard difference between 20's and NRL is huge.

Name any NRL forward that has gone from 20's to NRL then quality NRL player / rep level ( as you seem to think should happen) within one year ?

Paulo is a year older then Pauli and 2 years older then Moeroa. You want Davis to be given a chance yet when other promising juniors such as Pauli / Tep are given a chance, you reckon they are shit when they don't perform straight away.

For example Josh Jackson is 24 and been playin NRL since 2012, yet it was only really last year he really started to show his potential week to week in the NRL

If the club don't rate Davis, why waste a contract on him.

Did I say that have turned to shit??? I said Paulo is the only Junior that has really come on to become an outstanding first grader. Pauli and Tep have had their moments but they are not there yet.

I did forget about Semi but we did bring him at 19/20 it's not like we really produced him.

But you are missing he point in your haste to defend the club. How bad have most of our juniors gone the last year of two??? Most of them have gone backwards at a rapid rate.

The club might not rate Davis, but the scary thing is they seem to rate Vai, Morgs Robbo and Falonk Jr. All of them would barely get a crack at any other club. Throw in Farimo as well.

Apart from Robbo, those mentioned aren't top 17. No one is talking them up as superstars but just reliable back ups while Falou has some potential.

You're being ignorant (I suspect deliberately) of the realities of recruitment and retention. There are salary caps at each level of development, and teams need to work within these through the two key levels of player 'development' - 1. Recruitment (poaching) and 2. Retention. This is why we did indeed 'develop' Semi Radraradra, because we poached him, and we committed to him within our various salary caps at the expense of other options.

It's the same with guys like Moeroa and Pauli. Others (like Davis) have to be let go. Anyway, Toutai was miles better than Davis in the under 20s, and Morgan has been better than Toutai in first grade.

It's working for us now too. Half our first grade side is busted and we're still winning games. Plus it's the only way we could fit Foran in next year.

If it was that important clubs wouldn't use part time NYC coaches. The under 20s players (part time trainers) get more out of training with the full time squad. That's why pre-seasons are so important for them.

With all due respect, we're using a part-time coach, and coming 11th; other teams are using a full-time coach and will play Finals.
