And some soft defence there as Penrith go straight through down our left edge once more. This time it was open space between Clay and Mauala.

The Panthers have 3 or 4 players backing up hungry for a try.

Evans hits another conversion.

Penrith lead 40 - 10.

Penrith find some space down our left wing and get 30-40m out of the linebreak before Dockar-Clay shuts it down.

Penrith are held up over the line on our left edge but from the 10m resumption of play we are massively short on our right edge for whatever reason and the second man play sees Penrith cross untouched out wide.

Would math lessons help our club? None of our players seem to be able to count!

We also lack speed across the club!

Urgh, we panic on the last and end up chipping the ball via Brassington. It ends up with Penrith.

Oh man, time for a walk and a stretch.

Very disappointing result in the 20's. Ironically we played with some decent structure early in the game to build pressure but then struggled to capitalise on the possession/territory advantage, despite looking to have an advantage with our right edge combination of Folau and Toutai.

The Panthers NYC team is simply too good for us to let them get away with zero points from that position and they made us pay as they quickly racked up an imposing first half score.

Despite giving away the first try of the second half we did rally to some degree in the second period but that coincided with Penrith taking their foot off our throat momentarily.

I think we were best served by Pauli Pauli and Tui Kamikamica up the middle while Clay was good with restricted minutes.

Folau got little ball but was a threat on the right edge, which leaves me scratching my head as to why we didn't go to him more often.

Ualesi was down on his recent form but was still one of our most dangerous forwards when the game was still alive in the first half.

Getting back to the team effort though, too many mistakes against a top-notch opposition team meant that we were always going to be playing from behind after that initial 10m period of territorial dominance.

Both turn 20 this year and both off contract.

Our forwards were missing plenty of eligible players. The following guys are 20 or younger this year:

Pritchard
Paulo
Tanginoa
Masinamu
Alvaro

Penrith missing Cartwright,Foster,Yeo.Jennings,Scarlett,Moss,Watene Zelezniak of the top of my head

Yes every one has an Inglis,Slater , Thurston.Cronk,Hodges etc. etc for a back up.

They don't mate, but that's because they don't need one.

Three of the best backs in the game - Thurston, Marshall and Hayne - are sitting well outside the eight.

Are they the best forwards though? Gillett is one of the worst in the NRL in missed tackles, and Hannant hasn't played since we beat them.

I agree Thaiday is one of the best forwards in the game but he is stuck in the front row this year, where he is easily contained.
