So if you’re a trained journo and you want to make a living from that profession, you’ve no real option but to fall into click bait line.

The one thing people seem to forget, a verdict of not guilty does not mean that the alleged perpetrator is necessarily innocent. It means that the case against them was not proven "beyond a reasonable doubt". Based on the reporting of the verdict, the magistrate said some of the alleged victim's evidence was inconclusive or not credible. That does not necessarily mean what was said was a lie.

In matters like this, the statutu8es which establish how these cases have to be dealt with, and the practices around them, are to ensure that anyone who alleges such crimes are not retaliated against as that would have a net effect of persuading people who may have been victims of similar events to not come forward to report what happened to them. This is well know to be one of the biggest reasons why people who are subject to sexual abuse/assault often do not report it, or wait a long time before they do.
