Peachy was well on his way to becoming a specialist centre until he was moved. His attack was excellent ( if he got the ball early) and his defence was improving every week.Peachey was always going to be a square into a triangle hole type player.
Like Austin and Wade Graham before him, he is a victim of his versatility. He can play centre, he's effective but long term it isn't his position. He can start in the forwards but he's less effective given his style of play. He's a utility bench player at best and our bench is stocked with talent.
We've had some success with him and he's been great for us, sad to see him go but unless he gets picked in one position and persisted with then he will always be shuffled about.
I'd rather have two specialist centres then a make-shift one personally.
As you say if he had been left in one position he probably wouldn’t be leaving us.
The shuffling is what has hurt this team more than most things over the last few seasons.
At times it has felt like Griffin was trying to give everyone a run, even if it meant squeezing them into a new role.
There are Plenty of examples apart from peachy, I hesitate to mention Cartwrights name due to it being a currently flammable topic of conversation, but he is a prime example. Hiku and Hardaker on the bench, are others. I think he has been influenced heavily by some of the contracts players have been on.
He had to have hiku somewhere due to $$$, I also think the reported bargin of whares 5 years has influenced his selection.
I know $$$ are important but a coach should not be considering those things if it has been the case.
