Edwards just doesn’t have the passing game we need from our fullback the dropped bomb doesn’t matter but his chiming in to the attacking plays on the right side does matter and he struggles there. I doubt he’s getting another contract at Penrith. He’s been great for us and is definitely our fullback for now but with critta, Staines and even Turuva as potential fullbacks I think Edwards will have to look elsewhere eventually.

Remember when we put Luai in there? Positioning is important. If he continues to improve passing. From 2019 into 2020 was huge something similar again and all is good

If Edwards isn't passing yet it's unlikely he develops it.

Yeah I think we have seen enough of Dylan to know that passing will never be a strength of his game, whether that affects our team overall in the grand scheme of things is a different question.

He definitely has some amazing qualities needed to be an NRL fullback but the position in question is almost the most well rounded position on the field these days so to really be considered in the top echelon I think you pretty much need all the pieces.

Love the effort he puts in for our jersey and happy to have him continue to be our fullback in season 2021. Can’t deny it will be a tough decision going forward for the club when it comes time for a new contract for Dylan with all the talent we have coming through in those positions.

Don’t really want to be going on much more about any negatives after such a positive hit out tonight though, Dylan will probably have us all forgetting these few mistakes come Round 1!

Pretty decent game of footy for a trial game. I thought it was played at a very high tempo and defensively we were very good. Probably a little unlucky not to win by a more decisive margin given the two disallowed tries and a number of our plays where we finished just short. All in all I’m not sure we could have asked for much more.

Tedesco developed it late. So did Slater well after 24

Very hard to compare him to two of the greatest talents the game has probably ever seen though - not saying he can’t develop a better passing game than he has now but I also can’t ever really see it being a strong point of his game. Who knows though - would loved to be proved wrong!

Well no but compare him to RTS or CNK. They don't really have a passing game and are fine

I definitely see your point, CNK is a great example to compare to Dyl I’d say. RTS though has the speed and footwork that Dylan and CNK probably don’t have which can put him in positions to make the passing a lot easier/not as necessary for him.

Given Brent Naden is not available for selection I guess the 1-17 that started tonight will start against the Cowboys.

Perhaps the only position in doubt may revolve around Matt Eusinhuth but I tend to think he will hold his spot for Round 1 as I’m not sure what the viable alternatives are.

Slater's ball playing had nothing to do with talent though. He just worked very hard on it. He used to be worse than Edwards is at a similar age. Couldn't pass quickly under pressure to save his life.

Yes but hard work can only get you as far as your talent will let you go still. Slater was obviously a freakishly talented athlete which would have made it easier to pick up once the hard work was put in. Everybody would be on the same level if they just had to work hard to get to it.

This trial is usually for the final touches to sides.

Sorensen for Eisenhuth was the only other option but with no trial for him then no way he plays
