I think it's tragic, as any thought process which would lead anyone to jump out of a 6th story window would be. I think anything wrong he may have done is bad but none of our business and not the way he should be remembered.
Right. So tommorow I'm going to donate my life savings to charity which is a great thing. Then the next day I'm going to walk into the nearest school and abuse a few kids. When I die I'd like to be remembered for the good things thanks.

I hear there going to make a musical about his life story. Going to be called "Fiddler on the Roof pt 2".

I'm not surprised by any this.

Roebuck undoubtedly had a questionable past and it finally came back to bite him on the you know what.

As soon as I heard police and suicide, it became obvious.

A 28 year old man made the complaint which forced police to visit Roebuck's apartment.

Methinks when Pete first met the man who made the complaint, the man was a lot younger than 28.

Wonder if the Aussie team will be wearing black armbands on Thursday?

Not sure the black armbands would be entirely appropriate under the circumstances. For mine, black armbands represent mourning as well as respect for the departed.

Despite his dedication and long service to cricket media, Roebuck has allegedly committed suicide while being questioned by S.A police regarding possible sex crimes. The waters are too muddied at present to possibly think about affording him this honour. I think a "wait and see" approach is best.

Can't see Punter being too keen either way ....

When your quoted post was made, the exact circumstances weren't known. I think most would now agree that black armbands aren't appropriate now.

It's a shame Roebuck made some poor choices which screwed up others lives and ultimately his own as well as his legacy.

The Windies players are wearing black armbands in tribute of the accident victims in St Lucia. We also pay our respects to Peter Roebuck.

I don't get the sorrow.

He played cricket, but not at test level - so did i.
He wrote and spoke his honest opinion on cricket - so do i.

He isn't anything special, kiddy fiddling aside. He's just a bloke being paid to sprout his own shit.

Putting the personal issues aside I really enjoyed his commentary, so my initial reaction was one of sadness. I've spent every summer in recent memory following cricket, and much of that has been through ABC grandstand. He's a voice and opinion that many people in this country can identify with, and (I mean this in the nicest way possible) that's where you and he differ.

The stuff that comes out of the media obviously should be taken in context. They lost a colleague and/or friend. The platitudes always get a bit over the top when something like that happens.

Just wait and see how many new allegations come out on this topic folks. Thin edge of the wedge. This is yucky stuff.
