He will only be there to decide ,Guilt or innocence ,(punishment is far to important decision for common ol peers .) Even deciding guilt or innocence they wont trust him to have the sense to sort the bullshite from the truth ( or maybe the fear is he can ) A legal "expert " will be on hand to guide him to the correct decision under the law as it works in the adversarial system. And im not just criticizing Australian courts here . Pretty much works same in rest of western world.

Black smoke, the motor is working , Blue smoke it shouldn't be on the road . Big trucks diesel engines far more efficient and last way longer than petrol. Big diesal 4Wd SUVs and off road vehicles being driven to work , school ,shopping , stop /starting around town is bullshite . Maybe owners keep them for their occasional boating ,caravanning trips , or think they are safer cages to take kids to school ? These are things that should have been worked on thirty years ago but some were to busy pulling in big bucks for working in mineral and oil mining, And i dont really blame them for setting themselves up and looking after family ...but responsible govt ? where was it ?

I had similar recently with a referral from a podiatrist to a foot doctor, if I'd needed surgery i had to go to the GP for a referral for no reason other than just because. I also had to make 2 separate visits for a foot mri and ankle mri for medicare purposes again just because.
