For the 3rd test Id go for

Hughes
Warner
Khawaja
Clarke

Warner hasn't done much of late, but gee he cant do worse than Rogers, and if he does click he could bash the poms. Hughes on notice this test. Khawaja needs to stay in the side for a while to get some confidence and consistency to see how he goes

He still has the highest score of all our top 6 batsmen so far this series. He has had ONE bad test.

:lol::lol: That's an interesting spin to put on it. The reality is he's had ONE good innings amongst LOTS of bad tests. And he was still outscored by the number 11 batsmen in that one innings.

Funny how Hughes now has the rep of being hopeless against spin. He was initially dropped for being hopeless against pace. It should have been the last straw when he was owned by Chris Martin. God knows why they put him back in but all that has achieved is to reveal that he can't play spin either.

Apart from his first couple of tests he's only ever done any good against the military mediums of Sri Lanka. Having him in the side against anyone else is pretty much like playing a man short.

Hughes is a useless plodder

What is his average since returning to the team?

28.9 since returning. So despite all the hype about his rebuilt technique he's actually got worse. That includes 3 tests against the military mediums of Sri Lanka at home on batting friendly pitches. Exclude those and he has averaged 20.9 against India & England.

Bunniesman will still find a way to defend him though. Here he comes in 3,2,1...

Hughes is worth persevering with. Has time and talent on his side. Watson is the real disappointment. Should be the experienced head along with Clarke who is guiding the likes of Hughes, Warner, Usi, and Smith. Instead he's a selfish wasted talent who is a cancer on our team culture and our performances.

Hughes is a flat track bully against medium pacers.

That's all he'll ever be at Test level.

He's a capable First Class player. Thats it.

Hughes was our best top 6 batsman in the 1st test. ONE bad test and you give up on your prior opinions? Were you equally over the top in judging him as a success after the 81 n.o.?

If so, is it ok now to judge everyone on only their most recent test match?

No, one test wouldn't be fair. But it would be fair to judge him on his last 6 tests, say, where he has averaged 20. Or his last 24 matches where he has averaged 27.

It wouldn't be fair to judge him just on his second last game though. Where he got some cheap runs while the field was spread while the no 11 batsman was tonking at the other end. It would be fairly ridiculous to keep someone in the team on the basis of that one innings amongst all the other failures.

3 of his last 4 tests would be classed as successes by any reasonable person.

Firstly going back any further than his latest stint in the team is unfair because he has already been dropped for those results. His last 8 tests since his comeback should be the only ones he gets judged on.

In that we have 4 half centuries. In the middle of it we have an ugly bit which are his first two ever tests in India. He clearly and obviously improved as that series went on. In his final 2 tests he did very well getting two good scores and being amongst our best batsmen for both tests.

Since then he was our best top 6 bat in the 1st test and he had a bad 2nd test where almost every batsman failed.

Scoring 40+ in 3 of our last 4 tests isn't much to write home about but based on that alone half our top order deserves to go before him.

It's not just his last test match thou is it, his made just 3 test fifty's in his last 7 test matches and He has the most ducks of any Australian test player and only James anderson has more test ducks(4) in 2013. Here Hughes stats for 2013

Matches:7
Innings:8
Runs:351
Average:27.00
High score:87
50's:3
100's:0
0's:3

The next 3 test matches will determine Hughes career by then he will have glad 12 months to cement his spot and at the moment his stats indicate he is a player who is not worth preserving with.

You have an exceptional talent for skewing stats to back up your inane assertions.

Face it Bunniesman the stats don't lie - well in your case they do but the real stats don't lie. Your boy's no good.

Your blind love for him would be sad...if it wasn't so funny.

Bunniesman is the kiss of death.

Sadly for Phil, BM has been kissing every inch of him & then some, leaving him with more bad luck than any athlete promoting swisse

Bunniesfag, how about condemning Hughes for a change and see if your man crush actually has a decent game for once?
