Steve Smith looks like a prepubescent teenager. Australian test captains need to look like grown men.

Now please. Enough is enough. If Cowan had to go you can't justify keeping Hughes there. He's done no better than Ed.

We should start doing a Pakistan (and india long time ago) and start picking 19-20 year olds. Agar seems a talent and he was playing in Australias under 19s last year. We gave young fast bowlers a go like Cummins, Starc, Pattinson etc...Now we can compete with anyone on the pace front, maybe its the way to go with batsman? Get in Jordon Silk?

Cowan, Rogers, Hughes, Watson should all be phased out come home ashes series. Groom the young kids, these peahearts will just plod along thrashing after thrashing.

So Cowan had the highest top 6 score of the series? Cowan was part of a match saving world record partnership? Cowan was left stranded 19 runs short of a century?

There is noone outside the team deserving of a spot in the top 6. And if there was Hughes wouldn't be the one being replaced.

You can be as selective as you want with the facts but its still not going to save your boyfriend.

In their last two test match innings Ed has heavily out scored Hughes by 14 runs to 1.

Ed got dropped after getting out for a duck to a wildly irresponsible slash to a wide ball. Just like your boyfriend last night. He's gotta go.

His shot selection was bad, on the up outside off and he tried to drive it off the front foot running down the hill at Lords.

Should have left it.

Of course he should have. It was a terrible shot. But nowhere near enough to drop him.

Compared to a number of others he has been just fine since the start of the Sri Lanka series.

Many deathride him simply because I'm a fan, if I started saying Clarke was the greatest batsman ever I bet someone would call for him to be sacked.

People don't like it, but the reality is Phil Hughes is our 3rd batsman picked.

Its got nothing to do with you dude. He's just shit.

I hope you're right though, I hope they keep picking him for the rest of the series so his average drops into the 20s and he can surpass Cowan as our worst ever batsman. Ed doesn't deserve that. He's probably 2nd worst but Hughes is definitely the worst.

Sadly, you are correct. Even sadder is the fact that Twatson is our second picked  Clarke is our only world class test batsman. If I was a selector of other test nations and HAH and Twatto were available I'd be selecting these players before even thinking of Hughes or Watson.
SA: Smith, Kallis, Amla, De Villiers.
England: Cook, Bell, Pieterson. I also add Prior who would easily hold a top 6 spot in the Australian lineup.
India: Kholi, Pujara, Vijay, Dhawan.
Pakistan: Misbah, Khan
SL: Sangakarra, Jawardane, Chandimal
WI: Chanderpaul, Gayle, Bravo
NZ: Taylor
Bangers: Shakib.

Our batting is absolutely disgraceful ATM.

He still has the highest score of all our top 6 batsmen so far this series. He has had ONE bad test. And then there is the minor issue of there being no one else to replace him with. AND if there was any quality batsmen left in the cupboard they'd be replacing Watson or Rogers or Smith first.

If any of you haters seriously think he is getting dropped for the third test, I want what you are on. It sounds fun.

I'd be selecting Rogers ahead of Hughes. Has a decent technique, and looks reasonably composed at the crease. Also, given the poise and technique that Khawaja showed in the second innings, I'd have him ahead too. Hughes' technique just won't stand up in the long run...Not to mention the fact that he's a walking wicket against spin. I'd also consider Smith before Hughes, as he is capable of taking wickets with the ball. Watson for the same reason.

Clarke
Rogers
Watson
Khawaja
Hughes/Smith
Warner when he comes back

That's my pecking order. If Hughes continues to be a useless f**k against spin I'd have Warner ahead of him as well.

Hughes talked about improving his technique. Its now worse.
His average is dropping, he's wasting reviews, he can't play spin at all, he has no mental toughness at all. When the pressure is on, he crumbles.

He will never & should never be a captain in any cricket side at any level of the game. He is too weak.

Drop him now & start preparing for the Ashes series in Australia.

Warner doesn't deserve a recall. Rogers has been disappointing too.

Watson too should be dropped.

Watson, cowan, warner & hughes have been responsible for more top order collapses in Australian Test cricket history than any top order i've ever seen before.

i read laat night that Only once in the last 54 innings has Australia been 3 for 200
