Phil Hughes is in crap form. Calling it now, in the third test he'll get a duck in the first innings followed up by a golden duck in the 2nd. You heard it here first. He got dis.

That will only work if you admit you've been carrying on like a dumb merkin first.

1 test ago he was part of a record breaking partnership. 1 test ago he was being praised. He still has the best and longest innings of any of our recognised batsmen so far this series.

To then even consider dropping him after 1 poor test is a joke.

He's got a career avg under 33 & under 30 since returning.

Its not one bad test, its a bad career.

Ok, you know what, I've been unfair on Hughes. We all have.

We've been comparing him to other players unfairly.

We should compare him to players with other Australian batsmen, past and present, with a similar average.

Greg Blewett 34.03
Andrew Sheehan 33.91
Matt Elliott 33.49
Keith Rigg 33.42
Geoff Marsh 33.19
Phil Hughes 32.86
Tom Moody 32.57
Ashton Agar 32.50
Arthur Chipperfield 32.47
Wayne Phillips 32.28
Peter Toohey 31.89
Graeme Wood 31.83
Andrew Hilditch 31.56
William Murdoch 31.31
Ed Cowan 31.28
Tom Veivers 31.27
Moises Henriques 31.20
Arthur Richardson 31.00

Clearly an elite group of this countries greatest opening batsmen

From an England fans perspective, preferably never as he's hopeless.

He's barely scored a run against us in about 7-8 Tests.

Aaah Tommy.

We have lulled you into a false sense of security.

He will unleash himself in the Fifth Test in Australia.

Hughes wont be getting dropped ffs. He still has the top 6s highest score when Lehmann and Clarke and co have specifically said they want more bigger scores. And if someone is getting dropped for Warner, Rogers and Smith and Watson would go long before Phillip Hughes.

All logic suggests Smith should go for Warner. We need more batsmen.

Hughes is the leading run scorer on this tour. Hughes has the highest score of any Aussie top 6 in the tests. Hughes is not getting dropped for 1 bad test.

How can anyone be stupid enough to suggest keeping Rogers in the XI ahead of Hughes? Rogers is a 35 year old who hasn't really impressed so far. They're not going to piss away all the time and effort they've put into Hughes for Chris Rogers of all people.
