Why are people even talking about Hughes still? Pretty obvious he won't ever play tests again. The selectors have been bitten too many times and won't go back there again.

Of Australian specialist batsmen to have played more than 20 tests Hughes has one of the very worst averages of all time.
Yep, he makes Grahame Wood look like Arthur Morris.

Except he got 40, 60 and 80 in consecutive tests against the Indians and Swann in conditions made for spinners.

And since then he has made noticeable improvements to his technique against spinners. Added to his previous improvements against quicks and he is better than the majority of batsman who will play for us in the 1st test.

Improvements? Swann got him LBW 2 out of 4 in England :lol:

Some people in the vacuum that is the cricket section of LU sincerely think Hughes is awful and not good enough to play ahead of the extremely weak top 6 we have now. Some are just saying it to try and annoy me. But out there in the real world where people have better things to do than annoy BunniesMan there is a far greater portion of the Aussie public who think Hughes should be playing:

You can't expect to make many runs when you have smith and bailey in your top 6 where are my boys Hughes and Marsh? #Ashes

@DaveOfTasmania 19h
I still think Warner would be best used as a 6. Let's get Phil Hughes back in there with Rogers and drop Watson for Doolan. #Ashes

“@RonChiefBSB: Hughes in for Rogers at Adelaide by any chance? #ashes”

YES.

@RonChiefBSB 22h
Hughes in for Rogers at Adelaide by any chance? #ashes

@RandyPackage 23h
Time for Phil Hughes .. Rogers was picked for english conditions - did his job over there but now we're back in Straya

He shouldn't have been dropped in the last series. He should have been picked for this series.

Having said that we must stick with this team while the series is a chance. There has been too much chopping and changing. If and when we are mathematically eliminated changes must be made. Starting with Watson and Warner going down the order where they belong, Clarke showing responsibility by going to #3 and the best opener in the country (Hughes) being picked and actually played in his best position.

Phil Hughes last 25 Test Innings
621 Runs
1 Not Out
5x50's
0x100's
Average 25.88

He deserved to be dropped after India.

Trying to make excuses for him based on his batting position is f**king nonsense.

That's the same as telling Lyon to bowl leg spin and then dropping him if he doesn't do well.

Middle order batting is vastly different to top order batting. Hughes' first class performances have dwarfed every other opener in the country. More 100s than any Australian under the age of 32. He has not been given a chance to open in two years. He has been dropped twice while in better form than many who keep getting picked.

He is the best opener in Australia.

You really need to seek help, the first time he was dropped in England was not fair but after that every time he has been dropped has been warranted.

No it's not.

Asking an off spinner to bowl leg spin would be the same asking a left handed batsmen to bat right handed.
