He never got out to Root. And he literally got a double century IN HIS PREVIOUS GAME. Still averaging about 50.

Just further proof of trolls who hold him to a different standard to everyone else in a futile attempt to annoy me.

Futile? Highly successful I would have said given the lengths you have gone to to prove there a few other idiots on twitter who agree with you.

It's the LU's cricket forum fault that Hughes is not good enough for test cricket???

Jargan said you're only as good as your last game. The guys that I didn't mention in the Test team have had a pretty shit game. Therefore they must be shit. So they have to be dropped. For anyone whose most recent shield game has been good.

I'm glad that theory won't get Hughes into the Test side as his recent innings was shit.

Phil Hughes needs to be scoring runs consistently to get re-selected. So far his season to date he has scored 25,23, 204 and 7.

At the moment the 204 is the exception

Hughes 77 not out. Tomorrow is his 25th birthday. What better way to celebrate than going on and getting yet another big score.

If he does he'll have a 204, 67 and 100+ in his last 3 games. The pressure will be on Bailey, Rogers, Watson and Smith to perform.

Hughes played great in the shield last year too, averaged in the mid 50's then when he was recalled to the test team he averaged 28

I have never argued that his Test career has been fabulous to date. Of course he should have been more consistent. But talent like his should be in the team, even at his worst. If it was 2003 he wouldn't be near the team but it is 2013 and there have never been 6 batsmen better than him in this era. There wasn't 6 more deserving batsmen in 2009, there wasn't in the 1st Ashes series this year and there wasn't in this Ashes series.

On current form the only batsmen who should be picked ahead of him are Clarke and Warner. The other 4 currently there should never have been picked infront of him.

Its obvious the selectors see Hughes as the boy who cried wolf, scores a lot on domestic level, then is like a rabbit in headlights at test level. They have given him 3 recalls. Each time he has failed. They have worked him out at international level. I doubt they are even thinking about bringing him back, not for the ashes nor south African tour. Maybe when we play SL or WI?

got a leg up by playing 2nd rate SL bowling as well to kick start his test recall

Yep. Even against the military medium of Sri Lanka he couldn't put two good innings back to back

86 and 16
10
87 and 34

I suppose 34 is pretty good for Hughes following an innings where he has made a start lol

Hughes has to earn his spot back, scoring runs on roads against shithouse sides will not earn him a spot back. He needs to have two massive Shield seasons to earn his spot back.

Roads? The Victorians were rolled for 118 and SA was 2/36. 12 wickets had fallen by Tea on the first day. It was not a road.

And batsmen needed 2 great seasons of shield a decade ago. Noone else is held by that standard now.
