I know I am in the minority here, but I think Marsh is a very talented batsmen that still has an international future in all three formats.

Really?

I find him ordinary in all formats

In t20 and one dayers, he is the slowest scorer of runs for his first 20-30 runs, absolutely Boycott/Tavare slow. However at times he does ump the run rate and then scores at a brilliant rate and covers up his initial slowness. Problem with that is, during that 20-30 run period of his he creates pressure on the other bloke to keep things ticking over. Also when he doesn't go on with it, its double wammy pressure on the side.

Its not co incidence his strike rate in t20i and ODI is well below what it should be in this day and age of rope boundaries and huge totals. There are far better players than Marsh not getting a fairer go in One dayers, Callum Ferguson for one.

Test cricket? Lets just not go there.

I'm with you on this one. Elegant batsmen to watch when he is on song. Lots of potential. Just needs to work himself out.

The Mitchell Pearce of Australian cricket. Good domestic player but without the last name would never ever see a rep team

To be fair he deserves it more than Marsh, joke of a selection.

It was only a matter of time before Marsh broke a nail again.

He's another Phil Hughes, good at first class level but cant make the next step imo

To be fair, Hughes has shown that he can play at Test level, he just lacks consistency.

More importantly, people need to stop tearing his technique apart and just let him play. He was going along fine until people started crapping on about his deficiencies. That's not to say he doesn't have deficiencies, but it was clear to say all the talk was weighing heavily on his mind.

Fact of the matter is that every time Hughes is dropped back to first class level he easily outperforms pretty much every other Shield batsman. Takes a fair bit of talent to do that.

No one was complaining about his technique until his weakness with short balls and spinners were uncovered.

Same thing I have been saying since day dot.

Blokes who score shield runs, will score test runs.

He is still young.

Doubt he will get a run, Clarkes obsession with his mate Watson will see him play.

No matter how he goes they will persist.

Doolan will get the first run @ 6 IMO, and if he scores he will stay, if he fails he will go and they will bat Hughes 6.

This is the flaw I see in Clarke as Captain. All else I like, he handles the media well these days, is sound tactically, has averaged great as a batsmen since and at leats appears to have the team working as one.

His love of Watto has bitten him before and will again.

If Hughes gets a run in the Tests and scores runs I reckon BM will be back in these parts in a flash

Should I change the thread to "When do we pick him? :sarcasm:

yeah, but despite dual failures, Marsh and Doolan did well in test 1... and I was slammed for suggesting Clarke/Lehmann had 3-4 wrong....

Not sure who you should pick, but 3 and 6 should be the open slots, not 3-4
