Apparently the NRL have banned him because of his fabrication on today's back page.

Long overdue but entirely deserved for that story which was deliberately misleading.

Nick Weeks claimed he hasn't been banned and doesn't know what rothfield is talking about.

He was talking on triplem to Dan Ginnane who was trying to be a hero to keyboard warriors on twitter and couldn't get his simple head around the fact that the NRL under the code of conduct can't act while legal proceedings are open and Weeks said a lot of the details of the case only became available to the NRL after sentencing. Ginnane was having a good whinge about his gal pal as well.

They can only strip his accreditation, which would be both meaningless and strange. You don't need a ticket to write about the NRL, ony to attend press conferences. And even then I wouldn't think it's essential. If everyone needed accreditation then this website wouldn't exist. And it would be a PR nightmare too. The NRL would need to employ another dozen spin doctors if they are going to get involved in any more weird stuff.

And lets be frank, if you can bash a woman and keep playing, there is no way the NRL would try to punish someone who doesn't even work for them for speaking against violence and taking a stance that most footy fans seem to agree with. Some people are getting caught up in the "......but Buzz is a grub rah rah rah" angle. Not many, but some. Most people seem to be thinking the perpetrator of this crime is the grub and the punishment (or lack of it) is disgusting. .

But he's only taking a stance now because (a) he doesn't like Dave Smith and (b) Gallen got a big fine and he is having a sook. There has plenty of times he could've hammered a David Gallop led NRL on the subject, even when Cronulla players were involved, but he didn't. He's only speaking up now because it's convenient. I don't know about you but using domestic violence as a tool to push a personal agenda is an absolute disgrace and deserving of as much condemnation as one can muster.

Can they please ban him from having anything to do with or say about the Sharks?

Happy to give him a release and send him to the courier mail so he can support the Broncs

They are seperate issues, the problem here is a journalist writing an article insinuating a coverup despite it being both reported at the time by his own newspaper and in a press release by souths. There was no secret, it was public knowledge. His reporting is misleading, biased and unethical and the sole reason why there are so many people today ignorantly sprouting accusations of an NRL coverup. If he did his job properly he would see the code of conduct prevents the NRL acting on open legal proceedings, he would see souths had a press release on the day of his plea and he would see the court proceedings only concluded on Friday having been adjourned until November 7. I don't for a second believe he is ignorant to all those key facts and instead ignored them because he is trying to push an agenda over grievances about his mate Gallen's penalty, which was also handled through the proper process of a breach notice, used by the NRL for at least the past decade. James hooper wrote three days ago that now the court proceedings were completed the NRL would act against Auvv'a in the coming days, today and yesterday Rothfield makes out that the NRL ignored the domestic violence and are only looking to do something about it now because he provoked them into acting with his reporting.

Judging by the way he talks them up and bags the NRL, I think he would be more comfortable reporting on another code.

Smith rejected an interview request with him made today and that's why Rothfield is claiming he has been 'banned' by the NRL!

Imagine if that was the reaction by every journalist who were denied an interview request, they would all be 'banned'.

This idiot just keeps topping himself.

The biggest problem in the game are the morons moonlighting as journalists, there's barely a rational consistent thought between them and yet they pretend they are the games conscience.

and he's written a piece saying he won't be silenced about domestic violence

he's been silent on the issue since May

i can't find an article written by him criticising Isaac Gordon playing for his club

he hasn't complained about the Sharks signing Barba from what i can see either

Basically two things have set the alcohol at large off.

Firstly his boyfriend Gal got picked on by the NRL and Slothy had to defend him. When he realised that no one at the NRL were going to budge on the issue they started looking for an issue to sledge them with. That issue was the souths gronk and now they are taking the high moral ground on an issue that will be dealt with. And Slothy has decided to martyr himself and his underlings are in support.

The second thing is the price of beer must have gone up.
