Id personally like to see day 1 of the Adelaide test every year be named the Phil Hughes day (similar to day 3 SCG - Jane McGrath Day)

Or maybe day 1 of the GABBA test, considering he was in line to play there next week. Would be a powerfull story to tell future generations

So much grieving to be done first

Yep it's extremely upsetting but yeah something for Adelaide Test every year.

Yeah it would be great to start some kind of tradition like this so future generations remember his name.

Now every time I watch a game at the SCG I'll think of Tuesday and today.

For those who had tears in their eyes, I had the same thing. A mate sent me an SMS at 2.50 pm saying Phil had passed away. I was driving back from the shops and had to pull over...I couldn't see the f**king road.

The last time I felt this way was when Robin Williams died - but that was at his own hand.

Before that, it was my best mate's death after battling cancer for nine years. Strangely enough, I didn't cry at either of my parents' deaths or funerals. I just may be an insensitive bastard at times.

Play abandoned for the day out of respect, classy stuff from both teams & their boards.

Thanks for that,Bman.

Cookin' my tea and forgot about the telly which was off.

But an honorable gesture from the other cricketing nations.

Would have been difficult for a batsman to fully concentrate today.

I'm not sure about calling the World Cup after Phil Hughes but I think it would be nice if the best young cricketer of each year has a medal given to him named in Phil's honour.

A stand at the SCG maybe as well.

Won't pretend I was ever a Hughes fan - but this is just so sad, in so many ways - I feel so much for his family and friends, speechless

And the right thing by us and the Pakis to not play, puts cricket into perspective

Struggling to make sense of this.

The only consolation in this is his family and friends were there watching him play and were present throughout the situation, they were there for him.

I know of others who were puzzled by this reaction as well.

It's perfectly natural as individuals,we all have our own way of dealing with grief and tragedy.

Rest in peace, Phillip Joel Hughes 30/11/1988 - 27/11/14, Such a great player, one of the most talented batsman this country had. But most of all, by all accounts an even better Man.

My condolences and sympathies, towards the Hughes family, his friends and Team mates, you were
taken far too early. He Passed away doing what he loved, and what he was put on this planet to do.

Thanks for the Memories, Gone, but you will never be forgotten, sad day for this country. Forever the score sheet will read Not Out. Peace You Champion!!!!

I just found out, crying. I feel so sad and I didn't know the young man. I, like Veggie, never cried at my Dad's funeral... I don't understand it.

Sad for Phillip's family and feel very much for young Abbott.

I'm going to have a drink for you Phillip, RIP fighter.

This afternoon I've gone from crying, to being physically ill in the bathrooms at work, and back to crying.

I never met the man, never spoke to him, and in fact was never closer to him than about 25m at a game... And yet I feel absolutely, gut-wrenchingly devastated. I cannot explain this.

RIP Phil Hughes. I will never forget.

So very sad. So very tragic. Sympathys to his family, friends, the Australian cricket community and his fans. Really numbed by the news. Rest in peace, Phil, can't believe it.

I've shed a few tears earlier and now just have an uneasy feeling in my gut.

Wasn't helped by seeing a photo of Sean Abbott crying on his way out of the hospital. What that poor bloke is going through. The only comparison I can imagine is Ray Mancini who was a champion boxer and his opponent died in the ring in the 80s. His career was never the same afterwards.

Hughes and Abbott were teammates just 6 weeks ago in the T20 in the UAE. Hughes was the first person who shook Abbott's hand when Abbott first came into the NSW dressing room.

I hope Abbott can overcome this and fulfill his potential. Would only compound the tragedy if two lives and careers are ruined by this. I heard that Phil's family met with him today, I'm sure they had kind words to say despite their grief.

Really wishing Sean makes a full emotional recovery.
