Here have a real good squizz at this part you CSI-ers

It was pointed out in the Sharkies room

After Elford was arrested and taken into custody yesterday afternoon, it emerged that:

HE approached The Ian Thorpe Foundation last year with an offer to bequeath a supposed $13.8million life insurance to the swimmer's charity. Sensing a problem, Thorpe's representatives reported Elford to the Federal Police about 12 months ago.

A CASTLE Hill-based lawyer reported him to NSW police last September. The solicitor, who refused to be named, allegedly told police Elford forged his letterhead and signature to claim insurance.

TWO doctors, based in Goulburn and Sydney, allege they have been defrauded, accusing Elford of forging their signatures and letterheads to claim insurance.

Do you honestly think that the sharks are the only organisation that is at fault here. For example Waverley Surf club got $50,000.00 - have you read that headline yet? Wheres our Magnays and DUI's there.

Think back on everything that has been released and reported against the Sharks and those linked with them. Don't worry about current Australian players being involved in a sex scandal in a nightclub toilet, lets go back 7 years.

The shark bloke (seymour) that gets set up leaving a nightclub. Pissed his pants - proven wrong, fell in the garden, proven wrong, only guilty of having too many beers...(20grand two matches) but hey lets not bring up current Australian Captains and players tackling bar managers and illegally taking alcohol from a lic. premises (on film)

Throw in Stewart, throw in Watmough snotting a sponsor...

All the above is less the 8 months old I believe.

The current Sharks situation bordering on hilarious, I know I am now enjoying every minute of it.

Oh and Law Enforcement agencies were told about Elford months and months ago. Yeah its the Sharks fault that they didn't act earlier. And its the Sharks fault that all the other groups that got a cut of the $500.000.00 and spent it.

I've heard that the Cleaners at the Sharks club have been using stronger then the recommended strength bleach whilst cleaning the kitchen floor back in 2004. Hope that doesn't break - wow what a shemozzle.

Cheers

I agree with Quiggs on this point. The amount of journo's running past a fresh story to dig up the Sharks trash is farcical. It is a perfect example of the agenda driven media in this country, and a poor reflection on the state of the industry.

Australia has always prided itself on a fair go - the current witch hunt is an embarrassment.

BTW – I’m not sure I buy the whole Blacktip-Reefy = Clint Elford thing. Given the twisted humour of some of the Sharks fans I would not be surprised if it part of some grand scheme.

Well said.. The Australian media has become as farcical as the British tabloids.

I've met Reefy in person and it was definately him.

I wonder if Clint Elford is related to Toddy Carney. Both have that simpleton, mentally challenged look about them.

Wait a minute, its Goulburn we're talking about - of course they are related,

Looks like Elford/Reefy has just sorted out Cronulla's sponsor replacement problems. I mean the name on the jersey would have to be just a formality by now right?

BTR presents: The "Alliance Insurance Cronulla Sharks".

Alleged Sharks fraudster seeks bail from Weidler
By Jane Aubrey, WWOS
17:00 AEST Wed Jun 17 2009

In another strange twist to the Sharks’ alleged fraud case, Nine News reporter Danny Weidler was asked to post bail for would-be benefactor, Clint Elford.

The Goulburn man today faced Sutherland Magistrates Court on charges of obtaining financial advantage by false or misleading statement, attempting to obtain financial advantage by false or misleading statement, and making and using a false instrument.

Police prosecutors told the court that Elford made false insurance claims to the tune of $500,000 – and $30,000 of that money was donated to the Cronulla Sharks.

Elford, who claims to be terminally ill, was granted strict conditional bail, requiring a $50,000 surety to be posted by an acceptable person.

Elford's bail officer contacted Weidler at 1.30pm today asking if the Channel Nine reporter would be that ‘acceptable person’.

"I was surprised to receive the call as I have not met the man (Elford)," Weidler told WWOS. "I've only had email contact with him and one phone conversation previously.

"Clearly he (Elford) has some issues and I hope he is able to sort them out. However, I won't be posting bail for him."

Magistrate Beverly Schurr ordered Elford not to leave his Goulburn home except to report twice a day to police and attend doctors' appointments. The case has been adjourned to Goulburn Local Court next Wednesday.

Seriously Weidler? Wtf...
