Definitely overpaid, but we know why that is - I don't see the point whinging about it. It's exactly the same as the Pearce whinging. He was overpaid too, but we were better off with him than without him. Same equation. With them, we could move forward. Without them... well, see this year and our future prospects at the moment. We'd be even further in the toilet without him. We both know that no-one else worth his money is going to come here anyway. It's not like we get Munster or something if KP isn't here. We have the money for Munster anyway, but none of the clout.

Like, we're literally in a position where we have too much money and no-one to spend it on right now. The bulk of our roster is red hot bin juice.
According to Buzz Rothfield our cap situation is dire and we don’t have any money.
Admittedly Buzz also had rave reviews on our SG Ball sides performance on the weekend. Interesting considering Ball finished 4 months ago and we didn’t make the Semis.

Big money. Big expectation. Injury prone.

Sounds more like Benji Marshall in his earlier days.

Yes well, something like 4 of our highest 5 paid players are forwards too, so there's that. Still, if the Pearce money went to Hetherington and Elliot then we deserve everything we get really.

How is that possible? This club…

It's not.

We are spending less on every spine player at the club bar Ponga than most spend on their 7.

We do have the likes of Frizz, Mann and Klem on big money, though almost all of the remainder of the squad would be on minimum or close to it.

Yep, and apparently it's with the NRL integrity unit so nothing will be done until they're finished the investigation into it.

So it was a giant waste of time. Ponga still captain (for now)

Ponga revealed to Triple M on Sunday he could have returned for the final round of the season claiming “there’s nothing wrong with me” but the club is taking a cautious approach.

According to Parr, no medical staff at the club informed the young gun he wasn’t allowed to consume alcohol during his time sidelined.

“My information is that he has not been told by any of the medical staff that he couldn’t drink,” Parr said.

“We haven’t established yet how much that he had, once that is finalised I am sure we can make some conclusions on that.

Amatuer hour...

Was Mann advised not to drink while on rehab, why didn’t Medical Staff, especially HIA Doctor not advise Ponga.
Need a complete overhaul, Parr has a huge job in front of him

If you think he wasn't advised you are terribly naive. These weren't just club doctors that he consulted with.

PONGA’S CAPTAINCY SAFE

Ponga will retain the Knights captaincy despite calls for the Queensland Origin star to be sacked as Newcastle skipper in the wake of his pub saga.

News Corp can reveal the Knights will not strip Ponga of the captaincy and will back the Maroons custodian to lead Newcastle out of their season of woe, which suffered another ruction with the toilet-cubicle revelations on Monday.

It can also be revealed newly-appointed Newcastle football boss Peter Parr will read the riot act to the entire NRL squad following revelations players are turning up to training late and not wearing appropriate club uniform at all times.

Parr’s three non-negotiables during his time as Cowboys football boss were punctuality, dress standards and off-field conduct and the new Knights head of football will ram home that message following the Ponga-Kurt Mann bathroom fiasco.

There has been a push for Ponga to be stripped of the captaincy for drinking while sidelined following three concussions in six weeks, but Newcastle hierarchy believe a penalty that involves sacking him as skipper is too drastic.

Parr will front the media on Tuesday to address the Ponga situation, which comes just a month after the Maroons fullback produced one of the greatest games of his career to inspire Queensland’s defeat of NSW in the Origin decider.
