THE new Wests Tigers board made the decision to sack coach Mick Potter without any idea of what they are talking about, according to NRL 360 host Paul Kent.
Following the decision by the board not to renew Potters contract on the advice of Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer, Kent said the three new directors who hold the balance of power on the new board were not qualified to make the decision.
Media executive Marina Go, telecommunications expert Rosemary Sinclair and engineer Lucio Di Bartolomeo were all announced last week as the three NRL appointed independent members of the revamped Wests Tigers board.
New chair of the board, Go, said she was going to rubberstamp the recommendation of CEO Mayer.
I just dont see how they made this decision, Kent said.
Theyve gone with the CEOS opinion, theyve gone with the mid-season reviews opinion. How do they trust them ahead of Mick Potter when they dont know football?
I dont think they are qualified to make the decision. They might be one day but at the moment they havent been sighted around rugby league these people.
Grant Mayer might be the right guy (for the Wests Tigers), Mick Potter might have been the right guy. They dont know. They made a call without knowing what they are talking about.
Kent questioned why the new coach would be given complete control over his staff and playing roster when Potter wasnt afforded the same right.
