Why we waiting that long?
5 more weeks of uncertainty and no recruitment to speak of.
Nobody of any stature will come to the club with no head coach in place.

I see Merrin wants out but we will never attract anyone of that calibre with the club in tatters.

We apparently don't have any cap room anyway (a massive issue in itself), so doubt we'd be able to afford him.

To be fair Smithy will probably sort the club out to allow a young promising coach come in and carry on success like he did with Roosters. He's a very good squad builder Smithy

to be fair you have nfi.

Smith is not what we need. He will quickly become Sheens Mark II.

We've moved on from that stage. The clean has been done. We need a tactician as coach.

Smith is not that.

The Parish rumor makes sense, leaves the Raiders just when the bomb exploded at Concord and even our club would not be silly enough to have no one making calls on the player roster till late October. Also he would come at a much cheaper price tag.

Be interesting, he was rumored to be past the post when Sheens was flicked only to be beaten by Potter. I would imagine Mayer is the man with who will basically be making the call. I just hope the board is smart enough to seek some advice from well qualified people outside the club and not rely on Mayer

Neither is Griffin.

You blokes have no idea what you're in for if you sign him since you haven't watched 25 Rounds of Griffinball.

But moving on...I really hope Griffin is the coach for these reasons:

- Wayne Bennet will most likely bring staff and players that he wants at the expense of Broncos staff and players. They will follow Griffin when they need a new club (e.g. Josh Hoffman).
- Broncos will get found out for being over the cap eventually. When they do, Griffin will be first in line to pick up the quality players who get squeezed out.
- He has a proven track record of developing young talent

You're pinning a lot of your hopes on something that won't eventuate.

How about a little faith in your own juniors, recruitment and retention.

Agreed, Griffin seems to have a very conservative game plan. I thought the Bronks were a very boring side to watch. They had their fair of game breakers but seldom used them.

On the other hand maybe that is what we need

Jason Taylor is the best of bad bunch
Yes, I tend to agree. Allows Potter and Taylor to swap roles.

Don't think much of Paul Kent but agree with him regarding the West Tigers Board.

THE new Wests Tigers board made the decision to sack coach Mick Potter without any idea of “what they are talking about”, according to NRL 360 host Paul Kent.

Following the decision by the board not to renew Potter’s contract on the advice of Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer, Kent said the three new directors who hold the balance of power on the new board were not qualified to make the decision.

Media executive Marina Go, telecommunications expert Rosemary Sinclair and engineer Lucio Di Bartolomeo were all announced last week as the three NRL appointed independent members of the revamped Wests Tigers board.

New chair of the board, Go, said she was going to rubberstamp the recommendation of CEO Mayer.

“I just don’t see how they made this decision,” Kent said.

”They’ve gone with the CEO’S opinion, they’ve gone with the mid-season review’s opinion. How do they trust them ahead of Mick Potter when they don’t know football?

“I don’t think they are qualified to make the decision. They might be one day but at the moment they haven’t been sighted around rugby league these people.

“Grant Mayer might be the right guy (for the Wests Tigers), Mick Potter might have been the right guy. They don’t know. They made a call without knowing what they are talking about. “

Kent questioned why the new coach would be given complete control over his staff and playing roster when Potter wasn’t afforded the same right.

f**k this club is amateur.

Bring in a bloke and give him no authority and then make him the scapegoat for our loss when he has no authority over recruitment or retention, whose boss is a softcock that couldn't lead a fat merkin to an all you can eat buffet.

And if he is replaced by Parish, then we'll have gone full circle in the utter f**kwittery stakes.

Don't replace a rookie coach with an untested rookie who has to coach a heap of kids and a captain whose ego is immense.

An old head to keep everyone in line is whats needed. Folkes or Griffin would be ideal.

We're considering some unknown entity and we all know why.

because he's cheap.

We are the ALDI of NRL teams.

I see your WT and raise you one Dragons.

you have to love our club, they appoint a new board and give them a week to come up with the biggest decision they will have to make and based on a report written by a man that hands are covered in blood.

God it would be like acting on a report written by John Howard on how to deal with boat people!!!!

Any hope of positive change for the future has gone out the window, its not the sacking of Potter that is the issue, its what information they acted on to make their call. Lets face it Mayer was a major player in the clubs turmoil this year, yet he was the author of the report that sank Potter. Its not a good look
