I've despised Graham Lowe ever since after the Dogs 03 playoff game where he came out the and said they might as well cancel the finals series and hand the Warriors the trophy. He's gotten increasingly annoying ever since.

Hah I was thinking of that very comment as well! His words I believe were "its ours to lose"

We limped past Canberra with a field goal which he described as a perfectly crafted win
And then he made up a bunch of bs about us choking to the Panthers when we lost fair and square

Obvious headline grabber

I work in Media, I know the warriors have tabled an offer for Matai and Watmough, the issue is Manly releasing them, that's where the creativity comes in. Otherwise it would be a 2016 deal.

You think Dean Bell will admit they are looking short term ? if they fail to sign anyone people will be calling for his head.

The 2 super league players I heard they are after are Iain Thornley and Mose Masoe.

And Sam Lousi will suck at rugby union, no way he will be a success there. But fair enough if he can pick up a pay day.

Surely ur not the one and only scoop stanaway
Remember when he joined up and used to have a rant years ago

Lowey identified Tomkins as a target for Salford.

If you want to look at Lowes 'vision' for a playing group versus reality look at Salford.

Lowe was a great motivator and man manager. Tough coach in his day.

A very good Ceo too before his brain injuries.

His commentary however has always been Lowesque. He used to say the daftest things.

we met him once at the Ellerslie Bowling Club during the good ol One Tribe days. Talked to him for quite a while, although his middle name should be "sensationalism", he's quite a nice guy once you get past the journo..

best coach we've ever produced..
Pretty much put Rugby league in the wider consciousness of New Zealanders.

Everyone whether Staunch Unionist or some other sport knew who Graham Lowe was.

Much tougher men. Much slower game.

As Wayne Bennett said recently ' I am sick of talent....toughness beats talent'

We have had that proved to us all year.

The other 'expert' I hate hearing from is bloody Hugh McGahan. Hates the warriors and he's a crim to boot.

Yes, Lowe has always been very good at PR... the evidence that he was actually a good coach is much less equivocal... rather mixed tbh, and the the touted successes with Qld (which was actually Wally), Manly and the Kiwis are rather underwhelming

I think you are being a hard task master there JJ :

Otahuhu
Norths Brisbane
Wigan
Manly
Nth Qld

With the exception of the Cowboys, all to premierships

New Zealand
Rest of the World
Queensland
Western Samoa

All with varying results

He also happens to be a top bloke. I think he is tainted in the eyes of too many on here, because of the Warriors ownership fiasco, and that should rest firmly at the feet of Tainui.

There is much more to Graham than the Warriors.

he won jack-all with Manly, unless my memory is screwed... Qld won but Lewis was coaching, Lowe was in hospital... his record with NZ is not great... but yes, Otahuhu, Norths and WIgan were very successful

Guess I just wonder if a reality check is needed - clearly a good bloke, good motivator, not a "super coach"

Tainui should never have gotten involved in a Rugby league club.

They ended up losing millions.

They were in well over their heads.

As much as it erks fans the whole disaster, at the end of the day Tainui were ripped off too.

It's funny I don't usually go in to bat for Lowe. He gets on my tits. Coaching wise though he was a man ahead of his time.

Who knows what would have been had Lowe not been so outspoken on the NZRL and been sacked before his time.

The Esl was s different competition in that era. They took all of our top talent without much chop.

Lowe is the coach many talk about as the modernisor of the Wigan Warriors.

It's funny....Lowe didn't do much for Queensland......rings familiar to Kearney didn't do much at the world cup.

Lowes talent wasn't Pr.

Lowes teams fired up and people played well for him. That's got nothing to do with someones public persona.

Problem was, across a demanding season (such as premiership) the firing up couldn't be the only way - his Manly teams were found tactically wanting imo

Again, good coach - but not in the league of Gibson, Bennett, Gould imo - perhaps our best, but we need to remember that the league world wasn't always dominated by Australia, and we had some very fine players, teams, and coaches prior to the 1970s (as did the Poms)

Absolutely.

People talk a lot about various players and coaches. I wish I had seen Des white , Henry Tatana , Malcom Reiley and a few others.

Lowes Manly record found tactically wanting ? agree there too.

Oops my bad on Manly. Two trips to the finals and one finish in 8th spot (it was top 5).

I do agree, not in the class of Jack Gibson or Benny, but pretty solid all the same.
