Gidley was all out man. I mean he was nearly in tears after he knocked that ball on. I mean he had passion he wanted to win, Craig Wing wanted to win and Jared Hayne wanted to win. Who were our best players out there tonight? You know it.

P.s. McManus sucked.

He's a flawed club player, but even his usual strengths went out the window tonight. Which is weird because they're all about decision-making.

I agree that McManus wasnt his usual self, but tried very hard to make up for it in the 2nd half. I had the distinct impression that he was told to stay on his wing in the first half, he usually does loads more work than he did, then the only other times he got near the ball he was either chasing a break or on a hiding to nothing with the ball.

I cant see why you think he is a flawed club player, how exactly has he failed our club? He scores tries, he defends well, he makes yards and he is good in the air...

Never meant to imply he's failed our club. However he does have some flaws in attack. Namely the way he positions himself in attack and runs onto the ball.

Gidley's errors were unfortunate, they happen to all players. He had a good game for the most part.

That said, the thing that pissed me off most about Gidley was that he was the captain, but on one occasion which vividly springs to mind, he refused to take responsibility for the situation at hand. In the second half, we were on tackle 5 and going backwards. Gidley got the ball but didn't want to have anything to do with it so just threw it to Lyon who had to kick under even greater pressure. That was a really poor example from the captain.

McManus was very poor, probably NSW's worst player tonight.

The changes for Game 2 IMO:

OUT ---------------------> IN
McManus ............ Monaghan/B Morris
Campese/Wallace ........... Mullen
Laffranchi ............. G Stewart/Gallen

And the other change would be to start Poore and Weyman, with Kite and Bailey coming off the bench.

I think a large part of the blame can be placed on the Coach - I've never really considered Bellamy that great a coach, only looks good because he's got half the Queensland team playing for him at club. You think that since he knows Inglis, Slater, Smith et al so intimately he'd be the best to coach against them. Also, why even bother picking an impact utility if they're not going to be used until the final 15 minutes? He did it last year with Gidley, and he did it tonight with Wing. Such dynamic players should be brought on at around the 30 minute mark. The opposition fowards won't be as tired as they are at the end of the game, but then again neither will the rest of our team. By the time Wing came on, everyone was farked, bunching around the ruck and not supporting eachother.

Also, Farah was balls.

Poore was decent for the minutes he played - definately retain.

Kite and Bailey were both awful as usual - have never seen either have a good origin game.

Weyman was the slowest PTB I have ever seen. Looked like he was on valium out there.

my changes would be:

Poore & Weyman to start, Bailey & Kite dropped for TLL & Houston (both bench).

Laffranchi dropped for Gallen.

Wallace dropped for Mullo.

McManus dropped for Monnas.

I thought Kids was one of our best, he was everywhere. Unfortunate errors at the end there, i think he was guilty of trying to do too much, which saw him caught out of position a few times. I think Ennis should come in for Farrah, NSW need his aggression, Mullen for Campese, McManus out Morris in. The Video Ref has to go. I'm not saying the no try decided the game (even though it was a big turn around) but it's ruining the game. I could accept the refs decission either way, but after watching dozens of replays it just sh!ts you that you know he's looking to find a reason to disallow it, and half the time they still get it wrong. What happened to benifit of doubt? Anyway I thought Gids had a good game, plenty of others in that side who should be feeling worried about thier spots, Gids isn't one of them he can hold his head high.

To be honest Gidley and the other players found it hard to come up with the plans and playing at the same time, i dont blame them its not thier job to come up with games plans on the field, its the coach's job. Until NSW can get a coach what is capable of coming up with games plans before the game then Gidley and the others will suffer.

i was disappointed with the first slater try and the inglis try in the 2nd half
he was out of position for the first one
and then didnt make the tackle he shouldve for the 2nd
he backed off instead of going to him
too bad mcmanus and lyon are slow, but then again its bloody inglis

Jimmy was certainly no star last night, but the comparisons to Steve Turner last year are poor. None of our backs aside from Hayne and Gidley even remotely looked good last night...which mostly stems from the halves that were nowhere to be seen for most of the game.

Hell the only time NSW looked good was when Farah, Wing and Gidley did the dummy half run show, with guys like Jennings and McManus chiming in, cutting Wallace and Campese out of it completely! (speaking of which, Wing got more receives during his 26 minutes than Campese did the whole game - lol)

I can see lots of people suggesting wholesale changes for game 2, I personally would leave most of that team untouched, particularly the outside backs. You could tinker with the halves, but I don't think having Mullo out there last night instead of Campese would've made any difference. In particular I want to see the Wallace/Farah combo get another run.

I also think much of the team you saw there yesterday will be there when NSW fully get its act together and wins a series, not too far away I think :)

From a particularly selfish Knights perspective, I'm glad Mullo wasn't out there last night. We would have heard the old "Campese -----------> Mullen" line being trotted out again ...

4 days isnt enuff to get an uder 15s team ready let alone an origin team...probably the first time wallace n campese have met each other and then we expect them to click...fact is they didnt organise well enough for jennings to get the ball.
If the forwards arent laying the platform tho..like that soft as anything kite then these guys cant do their job i guess..BUT id have Ennis in there and even patten to fullback...gidley and mullen to halves

Jimmy was awefull surely they wont pick him again, it was disappointing cos i really hoped he would do well. Gidley made a few errors but played ok....couldnt believe he allowed inglis to burn past him, particularly given hes a great defencive fullback. our halves were useless. wing played ok but got brushed off easily for their last try. Hopefully queensland play that poorly again, to think we were actually unlucky not to win is testimate to how poor the entire match was...

Bellamy needs to go imo, he is not the right coach for us and all his set plays seem to revolve around decoy runners and little wrap around plays thats it. 20-30mins into the game you could tell what NSW were going to do everytime they got the ball in QLDs half.
