well it isnt like he's declared his allegiance to nz and then changed his mind cos of origin

until they tighten up the eligibility rules you'll see occurences like this occur

p.s. he's in great form so good on him

No Bolton & picking Costigan is pretty silly IMO

but then you get these commentators who do the 'HE'S AN ORRRIIIGIIN PLAYER MATE' thing about him

Boyd and Folau are both wingers in my book. Just suits their club teams to have them in more important positions.

Boyd was originally a fullback who started on the wing, he's just slowly but surely re-adjusted to the fullback role which now includes him taking some ownership as a playmaker.

Same as Folau, was a centre but was too raw to play there originally. He's slowly but surely starting to develop qualities as a centre.

Neither have fully conformed however and both can play on the wing if need be.

NSW will be ecstatic that Tuqiri wasn't selected over Boyd. But apart from that the QLDers have a much better side than NSW, even with Hannant and Price out injured to deplete the front row stocks a little.

A side made up of players missing...or second stringers

1. Matt Bowen
2. Brent Tate
3. Justin Hodges
4. Mat Rogers
5. Lote Tuqiri
6. Brett Seymour
7. Scott Prince
8. Steve Price
9. Matt Ballin
10. Ben Hannant
11. Scott Bolton
12. Ben Te'o
13. David Stagg

14. Nick Kenny
15. Matt Gillett
16. Scott Logan (I have no idea who else could be used...)
17. Michael Crocker

Not bad.

You could even make a 3rd team with some talent, maybe not origin winning, but at least there are options, unlike 10-15 years ago.

Rhys Wesser
Jharal Yow Yeh
Joe Tomane
Esi Tonga
Adam Mogg
Travis Burns
Tim Smith
Brad Meyers
Nathan Friend
Antonio Kaufusi
Jacob Lillyman
Corey Parker
Michael Luck

Aaron Payne
Ben Lowe
Carl Webb
Lagi Setu

7 of these guys have played origin. Barba or Sandow maybe in a couple of years.

Hannant is a huge loss. He should still walk back into a winning team when fit.

Personally I prefer Tuquri to Boyd - but not angry about the decision. It is great to know that if a back was to fall injured there is Tuquri waiting in the wings to slot in for game II.

Taylor's a risky move - but I kinda like the experiment and hope he stars. If he fails - it was still worth the question in my opinion.

Go the maroons!

Honest question as I have not been following Souths..how far is Crocker away? Annoyed Costigan is tehre, if we wanted a 2nd rower surely Bolton or Parker are better options.

Got to love the fact that Prince is out, good. Cronk is so much better.

Fu** yeah ,two of the best no# 7's in one side looks great, but also looks like QLD have too many good players to even know what to do with them:lol:

Who do you think would come off for cronk? ,I wouldnt want thurston comming off unless he was injured but also I cant see a side with thurston and cronk on at the same time, it will be interesting to see the changes,

im thinking thurston will come off around the 30min mark and play cronk as a utility rather than another no#7 who can dart from dummy half when the bigger blues boys get tired.

go OLD ,cant wait
