Well it WAS actually done 20 years ago.He is doing what I think we both agree should have been done over a decade ago. Question is why was it left up to him.

that was a media guess, vlandys refuses to tell us how much it was for or what the new 5 year deal contains in terms of what fox have got for their money. Even worse than refusing to tell us he changed the way the nrl reports it’s annual financial statement so you can’t see what media revenue is worth to the nrl. It’s almost like he has something to hide?
re the rest, you dont put someone who runs a shady business like horse racing in charge if you are concerned about catching fleas.
Firehawks could be the most important team in the NRL, alongside Sydney Roosters, as they would be based right near an AwFuL club. If they can take a few thousand supporters away from the Lions then that will be a huge kick in the guts for AwFuL.
How are our Sydney teams going against the Swans?Yeah I mean look how we're threatening the Suns.
Firehawks sounds like a netball team.
You also seem to have this binary worldview that people only watch etiher NRL or AFL and not both.
Perth Red will tell people who live in Brisbane that adding another team to the city is not expansion. The problem is, someone 4000km away doesn’t understand the fabric of Brisbane or RL in Brisbane.
There is room for two of the Dolphins, Jets and Firehawks
and before he gets all excited and posts some rubbish, I support a Perth team, but not before Brisbane 2
Having a game in the city each week will be good for the tourist dollar. If you're a tourist in Brisbane and you're here when the Lions are at home but Broncos aren't then it will give you the impression it's an AwFuL city.im all for Brisbane2 it’s years overdue, but it’s not expansion. Will it lead to new audiences, new fans and new jnrs? Probably not many as brisbane is already a rl mad city.

Something that you don't get in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth with the NRL.Having a game in the city each week will be good for the tourist dollar. If you're a tourist in Brisbane and you're here when the Lions are at home but Broncos aren't then it will give you the impression it's an AwFuL city.
Is this the same guy who goes on about "welcoming debate"?Now he's calling players, coaches and fans who dont agree with him lol. The arrogance of this guy knows no bounds! Maybe he's just crankier than usual after losing his court case?
The abuse his way is unwarranted though, we might disagree with him and his methods but he is trying to make RL better I suppose, in his own way.

You say the abuse is unwarranted but when you make drastic decisions without consultation as he did then what do you expect?
If you look at how Lachlan Murdoch is steering News Corp it is into Sports betting, he already has trademarked Foxbet. I think this is where we are headed, thus the secrecy with V'landys. Also why the NRL did a seven year deal. Gives them plenty of time to get it set up.
The thing is this was always on the agenda with News Corp hence why they wanted our previous leaders gone as they were not on the same page. Covid sped it up and gave them the excuse to do the TV deal.
Question is are we happy to be benefiting from gambling?
The decision making of the league is based on what's good for News Corp.
f**k get the ABC on to it they like rocking a few feathers especially when it comes to the Murdoch press.Interesting.... joins the dots on a few things for me...
The Fox league crew... many of whom used to blow up at the slightest of issues in the game under previous regimes (particularly Greenberg) are curiously subdued and quite supportive of this sin bin directive..
Paul Kent. The human foghorn... particularly has been waving Vlandys’ flag, in his corner..
He’s one of a few who’s compared Vlandys to comans (which led to my big old post in another thread), a revolutionary...
It stinks and your insight there would make sense as to why..
