Next week Peachey to 6. Segeyaro to bench with Wallace still staring at 9. Whare in for Blake if unfit.

another heart-breaker but the trend for 2016 continues...just hope we are learning from these experiences. must be extremely hard to pick oneself up constantly but should put us in good stead for the season ahead IF we are learning.

proud of the effort but believe we've now been given enough evidence to know that we dont have to keep mentioning effort & commitment anymore - it should just be assumed moving forward. i think we're just so used to underachievement over the years that we're overjoyed with the energy displayed & just want it translating into results. dont know how much closer we can get without actually getting there! hopefully during SOO period we'll gather momentum towards the backend of the season.

hard to be critical but some observations on the game:
* JFH announced himself today - let's hope he's gains confidence from that performance to understand that he'll be a significant contributor to this team - he could be anything (spoke with one of his forward teammates recently & he had huge wraps on him & thinks he could be the next JWH - I'll be happy with that!)
* dont think Moylan realised he still had a couple of tackles up his sleeve (7-tackle set) when he kicked into the corner late in the game. we still should've held them down there though
* sure we can pinpoint crucial missed tackles or goal-kicks but the fact of the matter is we lost that game when we couldnt capitalise on all that possession & field position in the first half. We just dont seem threatening at all in the opposition 20. perhaps we should watch tapes of the cowboys or broncos in attack - they seem to create plenty of gaps & opportunities which has the defence second guessing - i acknowledge we dont have the calibre of their halves but we really need to putting out something better than we have been
* again we let in soft tries whereas we had to work extremely hard for ours
* interesting that Soward continues to tackle the man high despite being pushed away constantly. i was hopeful he would address this obvious concern after his self admission at half time last week but probably a classic case of teaching an old dog new tricks - lets see how he responds next week - that'll be the indication of where he's at
* thought Peachey & Latimore both had strong games after being demoted
* hope TMM is not as bad as feared - was just starting to get the feel of grade & the team - fingers crossed

initially cold with the idea but upon reflection i think Cartwright to 5/8, Wallace at & Seggy off the bench might just be the way to go - will be interesting to see what Griffen does. whatever happens all we know is that it'll be another dour struggle next week - let's just hope goalkicking is on the extras to-do-list this week!!

Peachey is not a half. If they don't want to move Moylan put Cartwright there he is much more suited to it then peachey.

The more I think about it, the more I feel we have really mismanaged our half recruitment. For some reason we decided to go for two older guys, and now we can see them slowly fall off the pace (not that Wallace was any great shakes) and our back up halves are way too young to step up yet.

Keeping Austin or going after someone like Sezer instead of signing Wallace for 3 years, and we'd be in a much stronger position (yes, there is an element of hindsight in this, but don't pretend that there weren't a significant number of people dismayed to see Austin not given a shot and Wallace given three years). I'd be tempted to throw Moylan into halves for the rest of the season (with the added bonus of seeing how DWZ travels at fullback) to see how he goes, because this year is not our year. This is reliant on injuries not cruelling things, of course.

I will be very surprised if next week isn't 6 Soward 7 Wallace 9 Segeyaro.
I'll be flabbergasted if that's not the case. It was the plan all year, but Segeyaro broke his arm. Anything else would be major panic stations after we scored 4 tries to 3 against the 3rd placed team.

Yep Wallace or Soward had to be replaced with someone younger after last year. I agree re Moylan as well, give him the year and lets see what we have.

hopefully Soward defends inside Whare. That side of the field is killing us every week soft tries gets let in

We're not going on a losing streak. Since Moylan we've lost to the two best teams in the comp, narrowly. We are playing well, we will win at least three of our next six. Win four and we can try moving Moylan.

Not only are they too young, they aren't exactly carving up reserve grade opposition, unless you are talking about the 18-year-old Nathan Cleary, who is at least a season, probably 2, away from first grade.

Austin was certainly a misjudgement. He was rated inferior to Tom Humble, Isaac John, and goodness knows who else. For all that Wests Tigers didn't know what to do with him in 2014, and it wasn't until late that year he started showing what he could really do. Still they showed him the door after 19 games in the top grade in that season. A breakout 2015 at the Raiders (but still not good enough to get them anywhere near the finals) has been followed by an injury-hit 2016.

It must be hard to look at young players and evaluate what they will be able to do in seasons to come, as someone commented in another thread recently. Just like goalkickers, even the best have off days.

Who would you play on the wing? because Gennings has been poor in reserves and Hall might not be up to it defensively. Although he is good under the high ball, has surprising speed, and is better than Soward as a goal kicker.

Nobody here apparently rates Clune, but he's a good player, and I wouldn't mind him being given a shot (before Smith).

All of this would be true if we had a number of different alternatives to choose from. The fact is we tried for Carney and Thurston and missed out. These were the best available at the time.

It isn't mismanagement for mine, it is a reflection of how rare good quality halves are. It's why they command huge wages. The Tigers tried a different path by using gun juniors. How's that worked? We are on the right track now. Build your own. Takes time is all.

I reckon we should go:

1. DWZ
2. Mansour
3. Blake
4. Whare
5. Hiku
6. Moylan
7. Soward

Depending on how the team is traveling. TMM in for Soward when fit.

If we start winning games we stick with Soward and putvTMM back to reserve grade ready to kick 2017 off with him and Moylan.

Going for Wallace and Soward is just a step backwards and won't help us win more games or set up for 2017.

Peta Hiku isn't Jamaal Idris
We had a beast of a centre in Jamaal and he used to protect Jamie all the time.
If Jamie didn't have to worry about goal kicking, he would have a much better game on the field.
What about that kick he did on the set TMM got injured. It was rubbish.
