Holy shit, we completed 33/36 sets today and still found a way to lose. That's quite incredible.

If Wayne doesn't humiliate Gidley like he did to Mullen last week, I'll be absolutely f**king filthy.

Absolutely agree. Taking the tackle after the siren has gone is probably worse than a kick over the sideline. If our most senior player can't show the awareness that we need to keep the ball alive and push forwards what hope does the rest of the team have?

Finally a win. Bennett's wholesale changes must have worked, I couldn't recognise any of our players but they played much better than they have in last 5 weeks. Also, did anyone else notice the Tigers orange on their jerseys looked a bit off?

What did Wayne do to Mullo last week?

Made a point in the press conference about Mullen's brain explosion before HT when he went for chip kick from his own 20m and turned it over. Expected more from senior players, soft footy was the vibe.

The only good news to come from this game is Gidley has finally done enough to get dropped. He will be gone this week, there's no way he can't be.

The fact is, if Gidley isn't out there today, we win. As for Boyd, performances like today make me hate him even more, knowing he's capable of that but instead dishes up rubbish every week is beyond frustrating. When he has a decent game there's always an ulterior motive, sometimes it's him hoping to be selected for QLDerp or Australia and other times it's like today, 200th game and ramping up his asking price to a rival club. It's never because he has the best interests of the club at heart.

I don't believe Kurt Gidley will play another game for Newcastle. He just cannot.

We just proved that high completion rates mean jack shit if you just plod in attack.

I'm not surprised we have such a high completion rate given our lack of enterprise in attack and our inability to create second phase play.

Can't make mistakes if you're not taking any risks.

The worst part about that play is we had numbers on the outside and you could tell Gidley was just trying to commit as many defenders to him as possible so that there was even more room. He is just terrible though and waited way, WAY too late to try and pass it.

High completions means shit all if you concede a try every time the opposition is on your line anyway.

I really don't think attack is our main problem at the moment. That improves with confidence anyway (which we have none of).

Our defence is just deplorable. How many offloads did we let them get away today? And the tigers were bog average.

We are the absolute worst team at stopping offloads. We have 3 players in a tackle and the guy's arm is still free for an untouched offload. It's like clockwork.

That is unreal.

Not that I'm defending our attacking mindset, but Mullen was doing a good job of closing out that game (I know we were only two ahead) until that arsey 40/20 and Gidley stuffed it all up. We keep up the way we were playing between about the 50th-65th minute and we probably put another try on and take it out to 8.

We scored 4 tries to 3 today, our attack is improving, we just have zero confidence at the moment, its almost like they have in their own minds that they will find a way to lose (god knows i was thinking that most of the game). Really though, Gidley, please stop trying to be the hero and just stick to what you can do if you must be in the team every week.

The absolute kick in the guts: losing a game when you've scored more tries than your opponent. Not the first time we've done that

Perhaps that's another area where not having a wrestling coach is hindering us. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the wrestle starts on the first second and third contacts in a tackle. Players know where they need to position themselves in order to begin the wrestle, we don't have that.

Lately it seems we've been building momentum, look like we're going to go on with it and then something goes wrong and we lose it all. The freakish bounce for Taufua against Manly, Houston's knock on last week, Gidley's send off this week.

Funnily enough, it's when Clydsdale is on that we actually look like a competent rugby league team. It's no longer a coincidence, it probably never was.
