OK, so with Carney being cleared by Police, how quickly will he be back in the 1st grade squad?

If I was a coach nobody in my team under 25 would be allowed to drink in public without the club chaperone.

Bet my team wouldn't have any alcohol dramas, coaches need to be strict and I commend blokes like Freddy.

Should never have been stood down until the investigation was complete. Massive over reaction by Canberra management..

Not a bad idea but you can't put an age on it...No one in my team would be allowed to drink in public without the club chaperone and anyone not paying attention to the chaperone would be stood down immediately.

the club officals will meet with coaching staff and senior players latter in the week to decide their fates... i suspect the outcome of all of this will be Bronx Goodwin being severly punished, possibly even sacked and Todd Carney will miss a week or two. But thats just guess work. We'll know by the weekend. I guess Carney could still be a late includsion for the titans game

Alcohol is a drug, Rugby League players should be completely banned from drinking, just as they are banned from taking other performance & party drugs.

Weather he broke any laws or not is irrelevent to the fact he was blind drunk acting like a dickhead, had been booted out of all bar then refused entry into the casino. I would say that regardless of guilt of innoncence with regards to the law, there is no doubt he has breached his code of condcut conditions set down by the club after his last incident. So the club was well within its grounds to stand him down

What garbage....Here I was thinking that it was the clubs responsibility to win football games...

All this time I have been wrong, the main function of a football club is appease the vocal minority and make sure everyone feels good about themselves while watching their team get smashed every week...

The club's job is to run a business, right now they are protecting the image of their buisness. Which is exactly what any multi million dollar business would do.

No one feels good about the situation but the club need to ensure the player group are focused on the task at hand and they feel to do that Todd Carney needed to be removed from the situation. They will meet tomorrow or friday to decide a course of actions, which could result in him being reinstated to training and the top team effective immediately or if they feel he's breached the terms of his contract via the players code of conduct, they may opt for some disaplinary action.

How do you think Todd Carney would play with the weight of an internal investigation which could result in the end of his NRL career, hanging over his head? My tip is pretty f**king poorly, he wouldnt be mentally ready for a FG football game, let alone one as important to canberras finals hopes as this weeks game against the titans

Where on earth is the issue with this?

Why not. Clubs are moving towards curbing their players from drinking anyway. Atleast during the football season it should be very restricted.

spot on, i go out each and every week with my mates and we right ourselves off good and proper, sure we have some bruises we dont recall, occasionally there might be a small altercation but never anything serious, i guess we dont also have a profile and arnt targetted by random people at clubs and pubs but i firmly beleive if you want to have a good night regardless of who you are, if you want to stay out of trouble, no matter how smashed you get 99% of the time thats exactly what will happen.

I predicted this would happen. I wonder now if Carney will get an apology? It appears he won't be reinstated straight away and the club will probably have a talking to him about it all and the fact he put himself in that position.

Nothing wrong with players drinking. They just need to understand the media is going to ride them for a story every time and that unfortunately they need to watch their step a little more than your average joe.

Congrats to Carney though.

My problem is that the POLICE FORCE have said that he has no case to answer....If he was a regular Joe that is the end of it..But not if you are a footballer because then you are held to a higher standard than the rest of the public...Why???? f**king ridiculous...

It might, just might, have something to do with the fact that he's acted up before, and is on his "last chance" with the club? Perhaps that came with certain behavioural criteria that he had to meet, which the club are now investigating?

Why? Because he signed a code of conduct stating what the club expects of his actions when out on the town. He may or may not have breached those conditions. The club is investigating that and have every right to stand him down until they know.

The sooner he and people like you accept that he isnt a regular joe the sooner we'll rid our game of this sort of incident, he is a public figure, with a public profile who's conduct is scrutinised to the upmost degree. Like it or not that will not change, so the players then must change.
