A mixed bag as usual. Dumb mistakes all over the place. But a win is a win. I would put Moylan into the halves asap - has too many flaws as a fullback. Now is the perfect time to do it.

Weird game. We looked low on energy in the first half, had 15 blistering minutes before going to sleep and only scraping by in the end thanks to a lucky bounce. Souths were there for the taking tonight and it speaks volumes that we didn't beat them comfortably. Our goal line defense and concentration are our biggest issues and it's worrying that they don't seem to be improving.

On a positive Cleary had a great game, Mansour didn't miss a beat after Origin and Bryce laid on 3 tries despite being well below his best. The 2 points are nice as well.

Gees it hurts me to say this but I agree with you. He pretty much played as a 5/8th tonight.

Some appalling individual defensive efforts. One of Matagi or Latu should go to the bench for that bullshit, and Grevsmuhl would be lucky to keep his bench spot. Latu, Matagi and RCG are all subpar defenders and shouldn't all be on the field at once, it's bad enough that we have to end up with two of them defending together but three is too much to cop. Still overall I think it was a better defensive performance than last week.

Attack turning very good, just need to do it the whole game instead of in patches. It's a shame we need to move Cartwright out of the 6 to get Moylan out of fullback, its his best position, but we'll benefit a lot from getting a stronger defender in at FB.

Trent Merrin enormous again. What a great player he is. Doesn't get the plaudits he truly deserves.

It was a really flat finish to the game given the way we powered our way ahead only to give up two tries in the last six minutes and almost give them a shot at snatching victory at the death.

He ate Walker's dummy and let him run straight round him for their last try. I thought he was the one that failed to cover inside of Cartwright for Inglis' try too but that was JFH.

i wonder how long souths have walker signed for he is a big talent. blake had one of his bad games tonight, found out in defence particularly. carty with a great game, same can be said for merrin, cleary and mansour. cant believe we almost blew that

JFH was obstructed slightly on that one. Carty was brilliant wherever he plays he needs to be allowed almost a free reign to do what he wants in attack but I thought his defensive effort for the GI try was as bad as the Grevsmuhl one.

We still have a lot of dumb mistakes and defensive issues but the attack is looking much better. I thought Wallace overplayed his hand tonight, he was running too much. Moylan to 5/8 has to happen imo, hook said TMM is a month or even 3 weeks away so it will be interesting. Moylan isn't doing a lot of a fbs job now it hurts us at times. Hope this Pommy can hit the ground running, get him some peptides.

Agree. Not sure we take advantage of all of our bench players and give the minutes they deserve.

Akaoula would be better value than Matagi from what I have seen.

Yeah the origin games and this one really showed Moylans limitations at the back. He is always just too late to cover tries, relies too much on Mansour bringing it back and isn't quite fast or strong enough to be a running fullback. He has such an incredible touch though and an improving kicking game.

Cleary is seriously the real deal. Pure class tonight. Really showed what we've been missing. A half who is a reap running threat, has a good, composed kicking game, lovely passing and vision and brilliant defence. He had a crazy try saver on Burgess on the line.

Cartwright has all the tools to be the best player in the world. In his stride defensive lines just do not know what to do with him. He might run over you, he might pass or kick or take the tackle just to draw you and offload. Fix up the defence and continue to become more consistent and he is almost unstoppable.

I think we roll with this side for a couple more games then make a call on Hardaker/DWZ and shift Moylan and ride the side into the finals.
