Is that because they’re that much better than us or we’re not playing to our potential?
They've got slightly more talent but especially in finals I would expect those teams to collectively make better decisions due to their vastly superior experience in the spine.
Do you think the team is playing as well as it could be as that critics are expecting too much?
No I still think we have some improvement left in us.

I can't understand what happened to our steel in defence from earlier in the year - earlier in the season, we would stare teams who were coming back right in the eyes, and defend our way comfortably to a win.

Arguably, our defence is still strong - but it isn't as good as it used to be.
We were winning well because we dominated possession too. Now that other teams are controlling the ball better we are getting less ball, plus we are throwing some risky passes and making other unforced errors. It all adds up to more pressure on the defence and less opportunity for the attack.

The Roosters have a rookie halfback and we have essentially a rookie five eighth. Moses has played 145 first grade games and Keary has played 148 so they are nearly equal in experience. I wouldn’t say Jake Friend is significantly better than Reed Mahoney and if you want to take Verrils as the Roosters first choice hooker than Mahoney is actually the more experienced one.

Gutherson has more experience than Papenhuyzen and Moses is way more experienced than Jarome Hughes. Munster and Smith are obviously way more experienced and are genuinely elite players but to say that the Roosters and Storm have it all over us because of their spines is just wrong.

I don't think we should expect any result in any individual game. Luck always plays a role so anything can happen. Success needs to be judged over the course of an entire season, by which I mean numbers of wins. Number of premierships is a dumb metric because for one team it'll be one while for everyone else it will be zero.
Anything can happen but you don’t think probabilities are a thing? I mean the Broncos *could* have beaten the Roosters but did you think that would happen?

Good points, mate.

I truly believe we have what it takes to compete with any team - we just need to play smarter, and with more patience.

As an aside - I was very impressed with Nathan Brown's reaction to Tevaga's punch; in the past, he may have [rightfully] retaliated with another punch, but instead, he just pushed Tevaga.

A very mature reaction from Browny.

Also, I love Nathan Brown - he's such a mongrel!

That being the case why isnt he having a break. Gennings, Dunster?

A lot of these blokes will need surgery, so week off won't help. Sivo scored a try, diffused some good bombs and crunched RTS yesterday. You think that reggie Gennings and Rookie Dunster could have done better ?

Jake Friend is far more experienced than Mahoney, but I agree they have lost plenty swapping Flanagan for Cronk. Keary and Tedesco have far more big match experience than Moses and Gutherson.

Cam Smith's experience alone eclipses that of our spine, plus Munster has played so many finals and Origins.

You don't tell me about probabilities, I tell you about probabilities.

It's the whole reason one game is no basis for proving anything.

Opposition fans f**ken hate him. It's awesome. Even the commentators were talking up Jazz Tevaga getting under Brown's skin. Tevaga conceded three penalties and was sin binned ffs, while Brown didn't give away any penalties. At the end when RTS hit the ground after dropping the bomb Tevaga was into him again and Brown just looked at him like WTF is wrong with you merkin?!?

He's certainly a very valuable player, that's for sure!

I love his aggression, and enthusiasm, and he has matured as a player.

Tevaga has some growing up to do.

Even if that is true, we have been playing sh*t for half the season. This team should be playing as well as the Panthers if coached correctly. Full of youthful enthusiasm and defensive and offensive cohesiveness and purposeful execution. Not the panic that sets in defensively when a team comes at us or the confused lost and confused attack that is so common now in our sides play.

Moses panics. He cant lead the side or produce a big play when needed. I dont think we go great until D.Brown takes full control of the side.

We are at least as good as the Panthers, so what has happened to us?

N.Cleary went up a level and Moses down one. One is cool calm and collected while the other seems like a spoilt brat that looses his shit when doesn't get things his way.
The arguement of Moses taking his NSW spot is about 1-500 now. I reckon start of season it was almost a 50-50 bet.

We (like every other team) are playing banged up. I reckon Sivo is banged up and has lost a lot of his hit-up power and speed off the mark and in attack.

I reckon Sivo is just average and if injured then rest him and play Taka. It isnt light and day between them. Sivo isn't a superstar that rely on. If needs a rest due to injury rest him.
I call bullshit. I just reckon he lacks mongrel.

I don't. If we meet Roosters or Storm in finals I would play high risk offloading jungle ball. Hope it comes off and get to a big lead and then grind.
Play our normal game and I reckon we have zero chance

Then 45 running meters? Yes I do. Taka is my pick but GJ scores that try as does an 80yld. Line open.
See if GJ MAKES his 160mtrs it means the forwards have more energy. 45mtrs is appauling

Do you think the roster we have should be struggling the best the last placed Bulldogs, Dragons and Sea Eagles with no Turbo and Fonua Blake?

This was after the restart and no they weren’t for that entire time.

In that manly game weren't we missing: Blake Ferguson, Mitchell Moses, Ryan Matterson, Ray Stone, Kane Evans and Oregon Kaufusi from our top 17 as well as losing Nathan Brown for half the game? Manly still had more origin and tier 1 rep players than us and only beat us through goal-kicking
