No doubt lack of mins of course.

Fatigue and fitness is his biggest issue atm. He gets tired very quick and is a real concern around the ruck in d. Than that fatigue stops him from having more runs.

But honestly by the time he normally gets on we are just hammering teams. How often do we see edwards take a catch and get tackled for tackle one near the 50m line... than tiny and too take a run and we are right in the attacking zone and hes just not needed.

Im not saying he couldnt look for work nore or that he doesnt need to really improve his fitness. He does need to do both.

But right now i think we either look to use him differently as i suggested OR... drop him back to ressies like i said 3 weeks ago.

Make him play 65mins a week in ressies and he can come back up in rd 24 or something with much more game fitnesses.

Yeah i cant figure out why he isnt getting minutes. Ive been trying to watch him when he comes on to see if he looks tired or isnt getting back defensively but to me he usually looks like he keeping up and making his tackles, I am starting to think it is something beyond when he is doing on the field. The only thing ive noticed if he comes on in a period when we are defending a lot he is usually off again quickly so maybe it is just fitness but that doesnt explain why one week Ciraldo gave him the most minutes hes had all year and then next week he leaves him on the bench till the 70th minute both games were pretty easy wins then last week v the rooster he again gets only about 10 minutes from Ivan in a closer game.

He got 40 mins v Newcastle and had decent numbers. v the Dogs we needed to get the starters out.

on the weekend we needed Kenny's defence so a lot depends on the game but he can look lost out there

I said in another thread. He and Salmon and possibly Kenny I would of dropped this week purely for minutes

Salmon and kenny arent the kimd of blokes that need to play nrl game time tho to maintain peak fitness.

I mean look at kenny... he is an energiser bunny.

Id back him to ride the bench and get 15mins all year than play 80 in a gf if he had too. Hes an extremley hard trainer by all reports..similiar to edwards.

Salmon imo is the fittest hes ever looked. He obviously had a hige preseason and is putting in every week at training hence why hes in the team. Im sure he could cope with 60+ mins if he had too.

Spencer tho does get gassed. Some might not see it but its clear as day to me.

He gets real sloppy at marker and slow back imto the line... he doesnt have the motor yet to just go longer than 10mins without losing effectivness in defence which hurts his attack.

Its ok, i mean do we all remember moses lepta as a 21 or 22 year old lol.... he was deadset a carbon copy... leota used to gas so easily and be a liabilty in defence.

Hes almost 27 now and over 100 nrl games in.. probs took him till he was 25 before he really became nrl match fit as a prop. Which is not uncommon. Most, probs 90% of nrl props kick on and really find their feet from about 25 onwards and hit their prime between 27 and 29.

An easy comaprison of where they are at is to compare to of our own youngsters.

Leniu is 21 and has played 51 nrl games. Is clearly still developing his fitness.

Lindsay smith is 22 and has played 2 nrl games.

Like i said its easy to forget of far leniu has come at such a young age for a prop.

Look at most of the best props in the game... bar haas they are all older and most are in the age bracket i said.

Honestly by the time spencer is 25 or 26 i think he will be a nsw regular.

The challenge needs to come from within..

Ivan needs to go away in the off season and tell spencer he wants him to come back fitter than jfh. Wants him to compete with fish at every drill and beat him.

If he can do that he will be one of the best props in the game

Spencer has played maybe 6 NRL games in actual minutes though

He still has 50 plus nrl games under his belt.

Reading so many on here doubt a 21yo prop with 50 games under his belt makes me laugh.

How old was fish when he played 50 games? Wouldve been 22 maybe? Slightly older than spencer... we all knew fish was special but did anyone on this forum think fish would turn into the best prop in the game 5 years ago..... NO.

Ive seen enough from spencer to know hes the real deal.

Give it 3 years and he will be one of the best in the game

Maybe, maybe not. What I do know is he hasn't been given enough minutes

No one is doubting him. If anything the confusion over his minutes shows people rate him and wonder why he's not doing more.

I want to see Turuva, Jenkins and Geyer get a debut against Tigers. I want to see Turuva in the #1 so I would move Dyl to 6 for a week to let it happen.

1. Turuva
2. May
3. Tago
4. Jenkins
5. Staines
6. Edwards
7. Falls
8. Leota
9. Kenny
10. Jfh
11. Kikau
12. Smith
13. Eisenhuth

14. Salmon
15. Sorensen
16. Leniu
17. Geyer

I don't think there's any point persisting with SOS when he has signed with Dolphins unless he's the only option.

I want to see Falls given the #7 role. I thought he was impressive at 6 for us in his debut. But he's better suited to 7.

Honestly with a rookie in our spine and Edwards at 6. I still think Kenny would be the weak link.

I thought about that but we shouldn't move Dyl. He's finally playing some decent attacking football

Jersey Flegg had a nice solid game.

Good debut by Russell-Smith. Had a stack of possession would of run up a score if they had their normal halves in

Falls is leaving as well so why pick him? Fact is we never had Falls or SOS to develop into first grade halves. They’re back up so we can comfortably rest our Origin halves. We should use them as such.

Id go Edwards, May, Tago, Jenkins, Turuva, Falls, SOS, Leota, Luke, Fish, Kikau, Smith, Eisenhuth, Kenny, Salmon, Leniu, Sorenson.

No threat of being challenged up front, left edge will rip them to pieces, halves can just kick to corners, shovel the ball to the edges and we get to see a bit more from Leniu, Luke, Jenkins and Turuva at basically no risk. Wrap the game up with 30 to go and take Edwards off for a look at Turuva at the back.

Because the next set of halves aren't ready.
SOS and him need time because if Luai or Cleary go down they are next up in potentially a final.

Rest of the side it is better to get guys for this year and next year

In saying that Luke, Turuva, Smith, Eisenhuth, Rennings and Geyer not playing lower grades. Is Geyer injured or in with a shot against the Tigers?
