They're pretty stupid if they can take confidence from that when Storm had put the cue in the rack at half time - perhaps stupider than the average rugby league fans?
Of course they're stupid, they are NRL players. It's part of why they are more confident than most fans.

It's the same principle for why you think you're very clever.

Really I thought we have looked flat in attack inside the 20 with no players moving in motion
It wasn't great at times, but we did create some space at times and a better short kicking game may been more successful ......... but we need to factor in Smith with 0 nrl games, feeding Volkman with 5 Nrl games, with our fullback sweep option IIongi with 1 NRL game......along with an edge of Williams who isn't really an edge player or Guymer with only 2 games.....it was pretty inexperienced!

I have a feeling that Brown has decided he’s leaving and his squirrel brain has shrunk to a point where he can’t cope.

He has never been more of a passenger than today.

What a terrible and lazy display from
Someone we needed to step up.
I think his problem when Moses is out is he tries to direct play by dropping behind the play and saying what to do (haphazardly it seems). He’s no good at it. With Moses out, I think he just needs to go “f**k it, you forwards, Iongi, even Lomax, come stick around me. I’ll get the ball 3-4 times per set and dictate where it’s going that way”. It won’t always be effective, he’ll make wrong choices and it’s probably not maintainable, but at least it’ll get the team on the same page. Then we just need to fix our non-existent defence

Also we have zero leadership. I didn’t think Gutho was a great leader but there was no communication and no one trying to resolve the problems.
I actually think Gutho was a decent leader. But yes your point is we had no leader out there

I have only one word.
Diabolical.
When a team is on, they're on. This result was no surprise, it was always by how much. I reckon merkins on here were thinking we were going to get done by 70 at half time, myself included. Next year is where it's at. This year will be all about 2026 while flushing the dunny.

Yep no leadership who was the voice out there today.

Gutho is past it yesterday showed as much.

But we lost our 12 games without Gutho when he was here by an average of 20 points.

If you want to include today that average just got worse.

I thought Iongi was one of our better players

He was definitely a good leader for us but yeah yesterday he looked so slow.

Moses as a leader wouldve been a bit different today but who was the captain today?? Paulo?? Brown?? None of them did anything to earn the C. I personally think Hopgood would be a good leader.

As much as I’ve given shit to Drown & Paulo (that’s more involvement compared to pay cheque) & Kelma, individually I don’t think anyone was especially bad. It was the teamwork in defence (& then chasing offence after we fell apart) that was the culprit.
f**king awful line speed (there was one set especially where we didn’t advance off the 10m mark once in set) across the field. Scum were tearing us on edges, not because the middles weren’t moving across (they weren’t) but because the edges weren’t moving up either. Scum were getting 10 metres to run at a non-moving defence.
We all say defence wins matches and look at Smugs and say wow they give no time to the opposition. We were the antithesis of that today.
Line speed was poor at times, as their play the balls were to quick...,our ruck defence wasn't great.....

Standard Pou argument - we should always be shit

why would you resign yourself to perpetual defeat?

you can, I will keep demanding and hoping for better
Who said we should always be shit? I'm just saying not to expect us to ever consistently have the best roster, if ever. You don't need the best roster to jag a premiership, you just need a good enough roster, and some luck.

Looks like coach wants to play 30-50 hooker split, with Smith getting the 50mins - and Hands soaking up the opening 20mins.
Hard to judge the coach’s strategy based off one game where we looked likely to concede 80 points.
I think it was just because they were rolling through us and then when Smith came on he had a heap of enthusiasm and ripped in so he stayed on

The biggest disappointing thing about that half is that no player who is injured significantly changes the scoreline. The forwards lost control of the contest early. Lane and Matterson being there wouldnt significantly fix it enough to have been able to match the Storm.
It's hard to judge this early in a new coaches tenure. You may be right, but you may be wrong.
