Let's be honest. Having him in the bench was kind of good. We lost a winger and could cover. Had we had Marata available he isn't on the bench. If we picked Cartwright or Rein does that help? Maybe Matto goes to centre I guess.
Once NSW cup gets to about 6 rounds I reckon JA who will be a part of it will slip down the pecking order. He won't stand out and others in that grade will overtake him.

People who are convinced Blake is a genuine winger need to look how he runs. Ask Penrith fans. That attempt in corner when he jumped 5 mtrs in air was laughable. He is a centre and where he is best.

Moving forward we need Mahoney to atleast engage the markers a little. Without that our attack become to predictable. Hookers always need to have the occasional dart or atleast steal a meter before passing it. I dont buy into this bullshit of just throwing this nice long pass. If the defensive line is set it does nothing. You need a guy who can nip out so the defense isn't waiting to smash your forward. They are in two minds who is going to get the ball already.

I'd be more worried if we played like this come rnd 10 and we picked the same squad. Its early and a long season.

Mahoney engaged the markers for our first try.

He doesn't run as much as other hookers, but he does enough to get the job done.

I never got the Blake to wing argument either. The guy is a decent centre (bar some tackling/defence issues) but he’s probably only 75% of a winger. Good for emergency like yesterday but if it’s where he’s being selected, we’ve got problems (like 3 injured wingers)

Rein was great in the 2s and exactly why he should be 14. Something different at DH could really spark our A. They could be an outstanding combination. Reins D is pretty damn good as well.
Jrthur might wear 7 in reserves but he isnt and never was. He always played second fiddle to JR. JR was again the main guy yesterday and Williams played 2nd fiddle. JA needs learn how to be a 7 b4 hes handed the keys to the castle. I really hope his potential is realised but I have concerns how hes being handled currently.

You don't think he could sub 9 ? Anyway Ray Stone was there to sub 9.

The thing is that there were 3 forwards on the bench and one back. Who would have you picked this week for jumper 17 and how successful would it have panned out yesterday, considering that the Tits fancied themselves by testing our edges with speed ?
Yeah and they only got 20 mins each. Here we go again. Its a 17 man game ffs particulary when your game plan is to smash it up the middle.

I believe all my shit. The point is I don't believe any of it strongly. There are always multiple ways to interpret data and even to interpret what you see with your own eyes. As an easy-to-understand (I hope) example, I thought we would win, but thought the Titans were a good enough chance that I had $20 on them. After the game I haven't changed my mind. The Titans were a good chance and $3 was good value for them even though they lost. Some of the smooth brains around here would say that any amount was a poor price for the Titans because they ended up losing.

And in fact if they had been saying before the game that the Titans were no chance they would now be crowing that they were right because the Titans lost. I would still say that they are wrong. This is the difference between how the world is seen by someone who understands probability and someone who doesn't.

Quite a good post.

An acquaintance of mine is a world poker champion semi finalist.

All he’s really doing is counting cards and working out probabilities as you say.

You have to have the mind for this type of application. Days, weeks, years of practice. I certainly don’t.

And low and behold, you won’t find him betting on footy, Keno, machines, lotto and all the rest.

And his biggest secret is a great deal of composure, not betting his sacred assets and the ability to walk away with a shrug of shoulders and a smile.

If you want to bet on animals, pick races with a low number of competitors that’s paying for proportionately higher number of places. Weigh up the return, and after all that be prepared to lose…you might find better odds by different bookies as well. But you have to factor in time and expenses. All a bit distracting, but the maths is critical.

IMHO Gambling in Australia is a bit out of control.

OK I'll bite. So 4 forwards on the bench yesterday and Rein was #17. Russell is out at 35th minute. Who plays where for 45 minutes ?
