I thought he may make a better winger, than centre - but Ferguson (for all his flaws) is still a handy winger, and would be a better finisher than Blake, imo.

I think Waqa needs go back to NSW Cup for a few weeks to find his mojo.
Mate if him watching Marata from the sidelines can't fix him, I don't know what will.

Honestly, If we are to become a big team, we have to make the hard decision and cut him. I know its a harsh thing to say and he probably has a family to support but I wish him the best in England or wherever else. I doubt he will get a contract in the NRL.

He’s not doing anything different in defence this year than he was in the back half of last year.
His effective tackle rate is much lower this year (specifically over the past two weeks). If he didn't trust Moses how much less would he trust Jake Arthur?
Those fantasy point are pretty poor for both years.
That's because we don't attack on his side. In 2019 when we attacked both sides of the field his output was much better. Ferguson's too.

What was his effective tackle percentage last year? I seem to recall it was horrible.

I don’t agree that we lack speed in the backline. Blake, Ferguson, Sivo and Moses are all capable of scoring length of the field tries. I was watching some highlights of Waqa Blake at Penrith and he looks like a completely different player. He (as well as Ferguson) rarely seems to get the ball in space at Parra. I blame the attacking structures that are failing to create space on the right hand side so that Blake and Ferguson are being forced to try and brute force their way over.
In 2019 Gutherson played on the right and we attacked both sides of the field. Blake and Ferguson provided a lot more in attack than they have since we became a left side team last year.

We might as well not have a right edge attack at the moment. Blake and Ferguson are both catching colds in attack. Seems like we are content to use them as battering rams. I hope the coaching staff gets more creative because the sweeping play from Gutherson to Sivo is going to become predictable.

Just back from the game / pub, had a few to drown the sorrows with a Pepperoni Pizza

Would say Bozos death played some part in getting Manly motivated for the game. How much of a part im not sure. I think he was close to some of the senior players, so kudos to them for ripping in.

We were rat shit in the first 25 min where we had ample opportunity to ice some tries but never looked like it, had 60% of the ball did FA in their half. Ton of inside balls which was fooling no one. Reed kicking out on the full, Matto impossible offload error, plus a few other unforced errors . The shit attack continued all second half.

Something needs to be done with Waqa. We cant persist with him for much longer. Maybe a game or two on the wing? Hardly got involved in attack, and terrible as ever in defence. Moses disappointing

Tom T is insanely good. MOM easily. We probably go close to winning if he isnt there IMO

This game wont mean much come Rd 25 and into the finals. But we do need to address our attack when we have a ton of ball and improve our right edge defense well before then.

Back on the wagon v Souths on Friday

Manly controlled the ruck alot better than we could do that was the big difference that and Waqa / Fergo playing their first game together..

Gutho
Tom O

I knew the week leading into this game, it was going to be tough, so I'm glad we needed a tough challenge. And after hearing the sad passing of Fulton, my feeling was Manly were going to be super pumped and we had to be ready for it.

But 28-6 is really disappointing. If theyre going to be a fair dinkum team, there's definitely areas in attack and defence they have to fix.

I mean the attack was too predictable, it really frustrated me. Gutho's first try was great with the offload from Papa, but we kept going sideways a lot and at times trying to rely on our wingers to just barge over, I mean c'mon!!, they passed too early for Fergo and Sivo, they werent going to score from there.

I wouldve been ok had they taken the penalty goal and maybe down at 12-8 at halftime. I think that try before halftime killed it. Dont get me started on that right side defence. That was just lazy conceding that.

Parker and Turbo had a field day down there.

Obviously Marata will come back, hopefully centre

They've gotta beat Souths next week to stay in touch with the top 2-3.

na, I counted 12 stupid errors if their half which had nothing to do with their defence which didn’t allow us to build pressure like:

- RGC forward pass
- matterson offload attempt off the ground
- gutho stupid pass to the wing
- matterson stripped
- Moses stupid pass to the swinger
- Mahoney off side
- Cartwright kick
- Sivo knock on
- gutho shit short kick
- Moses had a couple of shit kicks
- Moses knock on

there were others too,......

so many lost opportunities......

Yeah, it was very, uh,.......frustrating.

It is all about the collision -Master coach
Chasing then even!! Effort area’s!! He talks about them a lot but it’s amazing how lazy this team is at times. Well when you know you won’t be dropped……. Unless you are a young bloke of course……. Or unless you are the coaches son……….
