We were paying f**ken $2.50 with them missing Cleary. He's only one player.
We wouldn’t have been $2.50 with 10mins to go! My point was they were missing their golden child. It was as good an opportunity as it gets and we couldn’t get the job done.
I am happy with the effort and am venting a little bit we lack the X Factor in big games

The difference is the Panthers want to get up and play the ball quickly. We are mostly not urgent enough at wanting to play the ball fast enough, which was the reason they got plenty of restarts.
bullshit!!

Its hard to play the quickly if the panthers are holding the arm/ball as the eels player is standing and trying to put the ball down and play it, a good few seconds after ref calls held. There was a few times it happen

They would have been tired as well backing ups 4 days after origin. Huge missed opportunity.

W.Smith.
Lussick was gassed. He should of been in bench. Bryce for 8 mins was pointless.
The coach stuffed up the interchange best??? Well I never……….

Lane was absolutely out on his feet then he lets in an easy try and then he loses it when we’re on the attack on the first. He replaced soon after too bad it was too late. Papa was great again but he has been overused IMO. He was also gassed when they scored that late try before the first half.

Anyhows unsure why others are upset. It was a great game of footy. Penrith didn't blow us apart like many expected. Yes no Nathan but we didn't have Rheed. There back up is a quality NRL player. Ours is a genuine NSW cup player.

Dylan Brown was a better attacking player when he started off in first grade. No idea what happened.

He continues to dummy and run the ball and it fools no one. He’s fast but we sure do overate his running game. Has no short ball nor does he have a good money/cut out ball. Needs to evolve.

They fight to play the ball, we don't

We were close but not good enough.
Looked completely lost in attack with no real shots fired at the panthers line.
The right side attack is the most non existent ineffective in the comp.
We could easily be celebrating a win if Moses gets the goal.
Perspective though. They had 5 players play Origin Sunday night plus their best player in Cleary was out and Edwards is a better fullback than Staines. We defended stoutly and 2 lapses cost us.
Great effort but I think it shows we need to play more footy and spread the ball plus more offloads against very compressed defensive units like panthers and storm..
Wasnt impressed with the amount of penalties and 6 again calls Klein gave them in the last 15-20 mins...
Anyway we have a tough run home and could easily drop out of the top 4 if we don't go up another gear

They were missing Cleary, but still had NSW Origin number 6 Luai.

We were missing Mahoney, and replaced him with Lussick (who has been very good, but is not at the same level).

I don't understand how a one point loss to one of the genuine Premiership favourites means we are pretenders...
Luai seemed to be limping most of the game. Probably still gets the 7 jersey for the Blues over Mitch though.
And you answered your own question. We couldn’t put the Premiership favourites to the sword when they were without the best player & we had them up against the wall.
Not so much pretenders as just not real contenders.
