Yep, momentum absolutely gone. One set was a Broncos knock on that didn’t get called either.

The point is he’s not considered unplayable. So it seems more like a way to bully him out of the club.

I reckon there is a split in the camp. These merkins aren't on the same page. I heard rumours of it at the start of the season and these performances are strengthening my view.

Defence is about attitude. The attitude has been appalling all year.

Bit of a truism. Defence is also about strength, speed, work rate, aggression/bravery and technique.

I suspect the players for whatever reason have lost faith in what they've previously believed.

When were they ever good defenders? Nothing has changed. It’s just that tonight we witnessed the nightmare scenario of twenty minutes with almost zero possession. If it happens again we will surely concede plenty of points.

Opposition sides are killing two birds with one stone and it all revolves around Reed Mahoney:

1. They are doing an outstanding job at singling him out in our defensive line. This is leading to huge post-contact metres, landing on their front, offloads and faster play the balls. This has a secondary effect, leading to my second point.

2. He is busted the whole game and is a deadset catch and pass merchant, completely negating his skill set. It also means the rest of the team need to work harder by retreating further each and every set and have to get into position quicker.

I almost guarantee that we would look better with Rein starting the first 20 of each match. He’s better defensively and can work himself into a standstill knowing it’s likely that it’s all he needs to get through. With the ball, it’s no secret we don’t play expansive early on. The difference in service would be negligible. It will freshen Mahoney and we will see a return of quick darts and better defence.

I hope someone who has the ability to make this change sees what I see. And quick smart before it’s too late.

I totally agree.

We're always thinking ahead to our one "big play" of the set, instead of using any instincts to play what's in front of us... and I'd say that's coach's orders? Have lost confidence to do "Parraball" both to catch-up when we need to, as well as when we're ahead to really put teams away.

I don't know anything but I'm convinced there's more to it. It's not our go. And doing it to free up money to keep Papa who somehow has to successfully renege on his contract is even less likely.

I heard a rumour that he spoke out at Super Jakey getting a run, it could be BS but if Brown isn't a better option on the bench than Maka i'm an astronaut.

I hope you made a bucketload tonight betting on the Broncos.

I made enough to cover what I lost in our last few wins. Basically I’m up about $250 this year. Not a great deal in the grand scheme of things. Unless Parra win the comp I’ll make some decent money this year. If they win the comp I’ll be down a couple of grand I reckon. Money well spent.

I think this is pretty spot on. He’s always gassed, and I think he’s more tentative in defence following the most recent surgery. Things may change of course, but I’m pretty pleased we won’t have him on the books next year at anything like what the Dogs are going to be paying him. And I would definitely be bringing Rein into the team.

I think he is busted. He looks like he is always limping .... but there is still clearly more to it than just that.

I dont think its the entire excuse for bad morale tho ... we were all over the place before he started getting rissoled
