He probably wants them to build some pressure and tire the opposition. We certainly did that today. Penrith missed 34 tackles. If our confidence wasn't down we would've scored a few tries in that second half. We're just rushing things.

I know you think losing 4 or 5 games in a row is no different to 4 or 5 losses spread out but that is exactly why it is worse. They have f**k all confidence because they keep losing over and over again

They were never 0-5 and that there lies the problem, confidence would be beyond shot.

Yep just checked, they got as bad as 1 win and 8 losses in the first 9 games. Wow

That was an awesome game. Panthers are a gun side. They will make the four.

We have a massive bogey to overcome to win next week.

You reckon? You aren't going to win many games if you can only jag 1 try from a kick coupled with a mistake by the opposition. I know the effort was good today but saying we'll win plenty of games with the attack we are executing is massively optimistic ..

I counted a couple of tries bombed too. Let’s not forget the caliber of outside backs we currently have on the side lines. They showed a lot more today then the previous 4 weeks. The season is all but gone, unless a miracle. I’m sure the group will at least be wanting to avoid the spoon.

They had a lot less ball than us. I am not surprised they had less positive attacking stats. It doesn't matter though. At the end of the day we had plenty more ball and still lost.

52/48 possession. That's as good as evens. One try each. It was a tight game.

Much better defensively today but still some lazy stuff. Pennys first 2 points was utter bs. Couldnt believe we didnt take the 2 when down 2 to nil. Dumb.
Attack is very mechanical. No plan B. With the defence rushing up the chip through would create opportunity and also slow the defence. Our recent lack of posession has created fear.
Im not sure what our offensive coach does but id suggest hes overpaid.

Ok yes we where in that game but to me the panthers always looked in control. They didnt overplay their hand cause they knew they had enough points at halftime.

and because we didn't throw anything different at them they never got uncomfortable
thank god they dropped a few balls themselves or they could have put 30 on us

Tight games mean f**k all when we continue to lose. What kind of possession do you think we need to actually score more tries than the opposition?

But if you're losing due to lack of form/confidence then you would expect your losses to be in a bunch.

Don't worry, I don't think 0 and 5 is a good start to the season. It is terrible. You can only afford to lose eleven games (maybe 12) and still make the finals. We've nearly used half ours up and it's not even a quarter of the way into the season.

But that is the third game this year we've lost on goals. It's frustrating.

Back end if the game we had bodies in motion, pushing into holes, Alvaro especially backed up into several late balls and off loads. Forwards played the ball at the line (although Peni tried it once too often). Panthers defence was too good, but people see what they want to see and the narrative is very much whining and misery

I think it’s you who is seeing what you want to see to cover over our glaring incompetence.

since the manly slaughter we have made progress in one area the scorelines are shrinking
sharks and tigers both beat us by 10, now panthers by 6

Penrith handled our edges easily. We need to take the two when it's on offer. That'll slow them down.

What we saw this arvo was a side completely bereft if ideas once it was clear Plan A was ineffective, which was early in the first half. There was no plan b, c or d and that’s on the coach. I haven’t bought into the coaching roster too much on here but it’s clear from our performances this year that we need a specialist attacking coach. I’d be recruiting purely on what will improve the team and not what is likely to make BA’s future at the eels feel safe. If he doesn’t like it then tell him coaches 0-5 don’t get the luxury of being overly selective in who we bring in.

Boncos started the 99 season 1 and 9 and made the finals....

Right now this year feels eerily like 2006. We were highly fancied going in to that year and for the most part stunk the joint up early in the year. There were murmurs of players not getting on, Smith resigned as coach the whole thing was a cluster f**k before jagged a finals spot....

You'll note they gave away a lot less penalties when it got back to 10-6. They're not silly, but we are.
