Marty Tapau, James Gavet and Aaron Woods, theres a good pack there from the Tigers. And to think Galloway and Blair wouldve been their leaders a couple of years ago.

I think the difference was their field position and their forwards certainly helped.

Having Allgood and Edwards off didnt, add to that a few bad handling errors.

We defended well but after getting the ball back, trying to get out of own half on occassions was hard.

Very true.

I noticed a few times we had Ma'u taking hit-ups up the guts like a prop because Mannah had just taken a hit-up and Moimoi was tired...

I have loved Fui as a player for a decade, but he's not looking very First Grade-material any more...

He was buggered after trying to chase down Brooks.

He may have been, yes.

I did notice in the second half he tried his hardest to lift the team by making some strong runs.

Seems he is still making an impact running the ball, but defensively, he's getting lazy.

I wonder if we would be better served with Paulo or Mossop?

A lot of tough markers out there.

Like all of you, I am disappointed we lost - especially because we dwarved to win.

But we lost, essentially on the buzzer, by three points to an under-rated Tigers squad, and we played some excellent footy. We only really conceded one try (Richards' and Brooks' tries were our own stupid fault), and we scored some beauties.

In the end, goal-kicking and some bad luck with the refs cost us, but we competed all the way through.

I am disappointed, but proud.
we definitely were the better team in most areas and dwarfed to win.

So how much extra doshy$$$$$ did our club earn for taking it away from our home ground so we could lose it????

Also, mentioned this last week that I was concerned about Terepo being dropped because our pack looked very small compared to the Tigers.

I can't see why a Junior Paulo, Terepo, Kelepi or more were not brought in to provide extra firepower and we dropped Fui, Allgood and butter fingers?

We only needed to contain or at least slow down the Tigers pack from rolling to quick up field and leave it to our backs to cause all the point-scoring damage. Mau and Edwards are skilful enough to provide a bit extra ball playing ability, even Mannah can offload if he sets his brain to do it.

If this game is any measure and taking in consideration the Tigers will get even better as the season unfolds we are going to need to bring in some bigger mobile forwards to slow down big mobile packs like the Tigers. Who have we really got to do the job????

Shit result and shit ending but I would take that level of effort and commitment every week.

Onwards and upwards.

It just wasnt meant to be last night, from Sandow's missed conversions to the 2 intercept tries and to Mannah dropping the ball gifiting them a field goal, the footy gods were not on our side last night.

I thought our defence was outstanding, tigers had alot of ball in that first half and only got 1 try

Tigers couldn't hold the pill in the first half. We should have put them out of the game by half time.

Ive also been most impressed with the desperation we are showing in defense, especially when the ball shifts wide we are sliding and scrambling to cover in numbers like I have never seen for an eels side in recent times.

Our old Achilles heel used to be our defense out wide, even in the good times.

Now we are giving them absolutely nothing out wide. Massive improvement.

I'd jumped on your thread to wish Parra good luck in the game.

But after reading through some of the posts, I had to check twice I wasn't on the saints forum. For a team that is on the same wins/loss as the Tiges, but further down the ladder, FMD some of you guys have got your tools in hand.
I get that you are excited this year after all that misery, but the unfounded arrogance and stupidity on here is amazing.
The whole league scene is full of warm and fuzzy feelings towards BOTH our teams stemming from their success this year so far.
Just to make it clear to the tossers, the only reason that Parra's success gets a higher mention is because of just how ordinary you lot have been. You came from a deeper depth of shyteness.
To hear you lot spouting about thrashing this, and points diff that, is funny. Especially when it's against a higher placed team.
It reminds me of a wooden spoon team's fan saying they will beat the current comp leaders, based on the intelligently composed "just because".
It will be a good game. It should be a close game. If you understand only 1 thing about footy, there is no reason to suggest it will be a thrashing. Either way.

Again, I get that you are all excited. Neutral fans are wishing both our teams well because of their starts. Don't turn them away by being arrogant arseholes.
There is such a thing as a gracious winner, too.
Talk is cheap boys. Enjoy the game.

. . . . . . Aaaand there you go.
To the rational fans, bad luck.
To the tossers, maybe read the above once more and see what I meant.
To Green river eel, suck shit. Karma has bitch-slapped your dumb arse. Gee, youse were unlucky !!!:lol:

Yeah that's what I reckon.

Props to the WT. They are a big enthusiastic side and fought to the death.

I thought that they were allowed to get away with slowing the ruck down by laying down on the ball carrier way too long. At the start of the game you could hear the refs police the ruck by calling them to roll away. Later on they let them get away with it.

Tigers forward pack looks to be something pretty special. Though I thought they were off the line in defence too quickly.

Spoke with many eels fans during and after the game.
I guess when it's face to face you know you are speaking with a semi intelligent footy fan. On this internet thingy, you have folk like your green river eel.
Read my post again. I always said it would be a close game, and was simply amazed at the arrogance of some of your guys predicting thrashings.
Anyway, your team is going OK. we were a rabble in the first half and really missed Farah.
Once Austin went into dummy half, we settled down. Thought our forwards were strong.
Good luck with your season. It was amazing to see SO many parra jumpers yesterday.
I reckon you clearly had us beat for fan numbers.
Great game . . . see ya's next time !
