Curtis lost me this week talking about Burgess being our number 1 starting prop next year.
Based on what? He couldn’t get a start this year, what makes anyone think he will turn it around miraculously and be the player we need him to be next year?
2023 is going to be dogshit I’m sad to say, @jackyboi90 knows it too.

makes me wonder whether Curtis followed the dragons in 2022

Burgess never reached the requisite fitness level to play NRL

I had hoped Burgess would be the X factor.

The team needs some athletic, aggressive, powerful props.

Lord knows where we will find these players in 2023.

Burgess might be part of the solution IF he ever gets back to full fitness AND he can overcome his off field issues. At his best, he was very good, but his best was awhile ago. I wish George every success and I hope he gets back to playing at the top of his game. The Dragons sure could use him!

With the name of St George Illawarra being dragged through the mud over the last week, we at the Red V Podcast take a deep dive into everything happening at the club.
Why did so few players turn up at the presentation? Do Ryan Webb's words ring true? Is their a lack of respect for leadership? What is wrong with management at this club?

Plus we talk on Bud Sullivan's release. Have the coaching staff blown an opportunity? Why is Craig Young adding his two cents on the topic? Do the young players have a case for their lack of playing time at the club?

Plus we play our part one chat with former St George player Luke Felsch. Luke talks about his junior football days, Jersey Flegg with the Red V, his first grade debut, and what made the 1996 Saints side so special.

To be fair to Curt, he is a Tigers man and has only started to absorb himself in Dragons footy since he joined the podcast. Give him some time, he's got a good footy brain

Heard the latest episode this morning and it got me very fired up :(

Very frustrating supporting this club. And Curtis hit it on the head. We'll lose Bud and Sloan and then Hook leaves early next year (after a poor start) and then what?? The new coach is left with no Bud or Sloan.

Dragon's (incompetent) management.

Excellent pod this week.
Curtis made a couple of great points, what Ben Hunt said about Griffin under pressure if they don't start fast is only half of it, he also said if they started strongly they'd look to re-sign him! That's just scary.
Also, another of Curtis points, why is it that Broncos and Panthers cut their losses and sacked Hook when the juniors weren't happy, yet at Dragons they seem to be going down the path of supporting Hook till the death and resigned themselves to the fact that juniors might leave?
Surely they can read the room, swallow their pride and sack him for the long term benefit of the club and its precious junior talent? Sloan, Sullivan, Su'a, Lawrie have all asked for a release? HELLO!!!! RED FLAG MUCH!!!

All of these reports tells me that we have a massive migraine coming to us fans. So much angst and uncertainty and little communication and plenty of negatives for the club to have any success.

Not only poor management but our player strength and depth not so good. I don't think they even have selected a KOE Cup coach yet?

Overall, if you weren't a die hard supporter you would give the club away and not follow league at all.

Nevertheless, it gives us something to keep our minds occupied.

Another good (if a bit depressing) podcast this week. I kind of know things are pretty bad at the club, but when you squeeze it all into an hour and a half podcast, it really is a downer! I hope the Dragon's board are just waiting until after November 1st to sack Griffin just to save a few dollars in the payout. At least that gives me some hope until Nov 1. Not sure what I will do after that!

I have really enjoyed Curt's comments in recent weeks he makes a lot of sense (for a Wests man). His point on Burgess was well made IMO, if we can get him anywhere near his form prior to injury it would be a huge boost for the Dragons. My hope is he had his first year back & hopefully has some confidence in his hip now, if he can get rid of the off field stuff he could be huge for us in 2023.

Great podcast Jacky. Thanks to you and Curtis for the no holding back comments on the dramas happening at our beloved Club. Keep up the good work guys.

Great podcast. Everything said about the handling of this club is spot on. Especially this wait 6 weeks to see how they go before they sack hook. Players didn't turn up to presentation night so they can clock off for 6 weeks and get the guy sacked. How is that good for the club? All he will do is pick his buddies (all 3 of them) and hope they can win and we all saw how bad they went this season. What a sad 2023 to look forward to.

In a week where there is more negative Dragons news than wet weather, the word that Tyrell Sloan rescinding his release cause was cause for celebration.
However, this week on the Red V Podcast we run through everything that is happening in what has been a big week.
Zane Musgrove signing and George Burgess released, the damming words that former player Matt Cooper has for the current Dragons Regime (plus what former players George Burgess and Jack Gosiewski have had to say about the Griffin reign). Plus loads more news and events of issues at the club.

We play part two of our chat with former Dragon Luke Felsch (1996 Grand Final, 1998, UK and his return to the Red V in 2002).

Another great podcast.

I wouldn’t worry if it sounds negative, it is an honest reflection of where our club is at the moment and yes, the club is negative and has been negative for some time now. Todays story about Craig Young is just another embarrassment for our club as it lurches from one embarrassment to the next.

This podcast is no starry-eyed, pie-in-the-sky Dragons podcast. It is not overly critical or malicious either. It is just shining a light on the shambles that our club is at the moment and that starts from the board to the coach to the team and ultimately team performance.

The self-interest from the board and the self-interest from the coach and the players is palpable.

The unconscionable usage of the club letterhead to tie St.George Illawarra Dragons to Brett f**ken Finch just further highlights how the Dragons brand is seen as nothing more than a tool, as leverage for individuals to further their own interests with zero regard or respect for the fan base.

Who in their right mind would want their team or club to be affiliated with Brett Finch and what he has been charged with? Not the Storm, Roosters, Parra or Raiders or Channel Nine tying their brands to him, but the Dragons do of course.

This club truly is testing the loyalty of its fan base right now and now is the time for us to see some decent leadership from the board, lest we lose even more faith in the Dragons and whatever it is that it supposedly stands for.

Hey Jack, do you know if Johnny Pett will be returning to the podcast in season 23 ? Enjoyed his knowledge, insight and energy, that's taking nothing away from yours and Curtis's footy brains. Thanks

Unsure at the moment mate. Johnny does a footy podcast for the Illawarra rugby league snd also works in the mines so he has very little time now. Would def love to have him back on. Will see what I can do
