Good in theory Pops, but Kelly got let go for off field incidents.
Hardly Parra's fault for letting a guy go who was wasting his and their time.

That's my point, could the off-field incidents have been accredited to disappointment, didn't necessarily have to be Parramatta even though they are the epitomy of bad decisions. Sharks and Newcastle are just as blinkered and it could have been a lot worse for 'haters'.

There is a club who likes to buy from the Reject Shop that bought a well used halfback from England as a stop-gap and could now use a cheap out-of-the-too-hard-basket 5/8. Can you imagine Kelly and Mortimer after a short tutorial in purple, players equally as talented as Maurice Blair.

In essence, what you are saying is the Eels aren't capable of recognition OR rehabilitation, seems John Cartwright has no such problem, ask Myles or Bird. Come to think of it, maybe Ferguson should be given the choice of deregistration or accept a pay cut and relocation to Melbourne or GC.

I'd like to think that the Titans were miracle workers, but I think the club has become more of a last chance saloon for the 3 mentioned above (Myles to a lesser extent).
It's a tricky one, but my view is that sometimes blokes need to get as low as possible before they wake up to themselves.

Forgive me for persevering but it is good to have someone to talk with. All the more reason for clubs to concentrate on finding competent coaches above players. Bennett surprised me by not perservering with Kelly given his ability to turn others like Gagai around, how must he feel when he sees Kelly play now considering he has to put up with a loose canon like Mullen.

I'm fairly sure big George is more concerned about what Soup Nazi Maguire is going to dish up than anything from the NRL. Robbo has shown faith in Mortimer who after all did no less than Hayne in '09 given his inexperience. Bellamy saw the problems with Inglis's and Blair's indescretions and dealt with them accordingly.

Cartwright is a man's man with more than enough coaching ability needed to handle Myles or Bird and still hasn't given up on Taylor. The shit Hasler had to contend with from players like Watmough and Stewart didn't phase him one bit, not to mention what the bad loser Dogs had in store. Furner should be allowed to show us what he can do with Ferguson, that will be his true test as a coach.

How f**king sweet it is, the fullback-in-waiting Tuivasa-Sheck, Mortimer and Sonny might've played well but Robbo won the game, great exhibition of coaching.

I thought Cordner a standout for the Roosters, and the Dog's missed Reynolds far more than I thought they would.

Easy to overlook Cordner because he plays the same every game and you're right about Reynolds, the Well Fed Terrorist didn't look so dangerous without the little time bomb in his pocket. Like I said imo the MOM was the coach, Hasler had the same look on his face as he did in last year's gf

Dontcha just love the arsewipes, falling all over themselves making mileage from an anticipated Blues win and doing their best to sabotage it at the same time. Rotfield's attempt at brownie points could see Dugan miss the game and surely Gallen is having words put in his mouth because the media think we need to be led by the nose . . . you don't need to be a truck driver or brickie's labourer to follow the game.

Something about the Tigers that is on the verge of arousing my interest, if the promised Narellan go-ahead can convince them to distinguish themselves as a satelite club divorced from the the insidious inner Sydney CBD we may see them prosper. Vibes from last night's game are good, all that is needed is for the club to be recognised as representing a new frontier, Tigers need to be seen as neighbours of Penrith and Canberra

'Titans ready to quell the Storm', from the NRL website, more desperation to boost a placebo round of League. You'd think the Roosters walking on water would have been enough or even a Tiger on two legs raising the home flag, still the propaganda from people who think most of us can't think for ourselves. If the GC lose tonight it will but a huge dent in my hopes for them, they must beat this Melbourne configuration.

Not that I read a whole lot about League, headlines are enough for a cynical chuckle if you watch every game. The absence of derogatory remarks about Mick Potter reinforces my view that we have no idea yet of how good a coach he might be. Working out of an emergency ward he shows promise and the more players with a clean sheet he introduces the better the team looks.

As the Farah/Marshall squabble over Dally M points begins to wane we may see Potter Players come to the fore, Anasta will be able to spend all his time with his lady and not just 3 weeks a month, the Tigers might become a promise and not just a whim. I'm going with the vibes and hopefully a supercoach-in-waiting.

Bit like your long posts....are you a journalist in another life? :)

A few wankers have accused me of that but as you can see I'd hardly make a living with the few posts I make. Not to say I don't appreciate the bump even from blokes like you that have no input

Can't wait myself. The feeling is one of excitement and adventure, bit different to previous years, even Bellamy seems relaxed.
Some emerging strong leaders, some a year older and more experienced, more debutants this year than we've seen for some time... so an air of unpredictability perhaps, quite un-Stormlike.
A chance to throw off the shackles perhaps.
But then I could be wrong (again)
It will be interesting to say the least and hopefully not the sure thing everyone seems to think.

Melbourne will soon have to find players to seriously threaten the big three, their longevity and ability to combat injury has a false sense of security about it. There is always the perceived impression that Bellamy can make a silk purse from a sow's ear but I would have liked to have seen Albert Kelly 'saved' by the Storm. Ready made 1,7 or 6 at a bargain price to keep the others on their toes. I like Cartwright and if ever I didn't mind him beating Bellamy it's tonight.

How about I talk about a scenario while we wait out the doldrum before Wednesday night. Last night we saw Melbourne put up a fine effort, might've even won if a straw hadn't broke the camel's back. I'm glad the Titans got the points because it made the loss by the Dogs mean something, more than one way to skin a cat.

Because it's the Storm, could have been the Dogs or Manly as part of the three most hated, no-one gives a f**k they had to sacrifice last night's game. No-one will give a f**k next doldrum when Melbourne are sacrificed again to the Dogs, after all it's a win win for the haters who don't like poppies growing out of reach.

Here's the scenario, suppose after the World Cup the big three do a Lyons and step down from rep footy. Who could blame them, nothing more to prove, bodies getting tired and a last chance to reward their club not just for what it's done for them, Qld and Aust but for the game itself.

So, next year when the blood letting takes place it will be Souths/Roosters/Dragons or whoever supplies the almighty Origin teams while the big three tear their remnants apart and once again a highly anticipated season will be overshadowed by incompetency. After 8 long years it may be the turn of Melbourne supporters, earlier than expected.

Presuming there are no injuries and assuming all Origin players man up this round of important League looks tantalising. Souths are expected to win easily against a Raiders side that should be in a groove, not back sitting on a fence while another wayward son from a different mother catches up. In this day and age injuries should be the bugbear, enough without the need for masochism you'd think. The question is will Canberra catch Souths napping.

Seems Melbourne can't catch a break going in or coming out, Tigers at Leichhardt says it all. Even Storm supporters should be getting a little weary of seeing the same faces championing the cause. I for one want to see Widdop's '14 replacement blooded now, whoever he is, and good chap that he is Finch relegated to emergency. Wests are on the way up no matter the result.

Moylan doesn't have an RDO this round but Duges doesn't shape up well the morning after, fingers crossed everyone from both sides concentrate to make this game the cracker it should be.

Another game with promise should see a rejuvenated Knights against a team with the same potential of Canberra minus the inflictions. Titans on paper should be a lay down misere but Benny is the Viagara for an intermittent tool of a team, will they stand up this time.

Warriors to win for all the obvious reasons . . . surely Brisbane must be rational about their chances

Funnily enough I think the Sharks might beat NQ if Gallen doesn't play, too much 'centre of attention' is not good for flying under the radar and they play better without him. Having a point to prove might snap Tamou out of lethargy but a lot depends if the Lone Ranger has his usual immaculate back-up from the Origin novelty.

If Manly had everyone on deck and fighting fit I'd tip them to beat a full strength Roosters this particular round, not going to happen so Sydney just need to do what Robbo says and all will be well

Seems you missed a game there mate, The likely to be most closely fought, with neither squad impacted by Suncorp shenanigans at all, I'm tipping Parra to take the two points, but without much confidence.

The game itself was self-explanatory but I'm sure the arsewipes won't believe most of us could work it out for ourselves. One thing I noticed from half time camera shots was Daley doing the talking in one room and Smith in the other, maybe the time for inspiration was over for the Maroons and tactics were in order.

Not that I give a shit but the Blues would be better served with the kicking game of Adam Reynolds, a dummy half that can play 80 minutes and Albert Kelly on the bench . . . I'm sure he could do a better job than Josh Reynolds all over the park
