Paul Green played a season at Parra.
For the older members - Craig Coleman played for the magpies.
And for the even older members - Russell Fairfax played a season at Souths !!

Matai and Morris I can accept. Hodges not anymore(or ever imo). Takarangi is a good one though I don't watch him much. The rest Jamal has covered comfortably.

A year ago I would of said Whare but he isn't defending as well as he was back then, possible due to the revolving door he has had inside of him this year and last but anyway.

Besides Jamals timing and positional play he is just way more physical than anyone at that position, he regularly dominates forwards in tackles on his own.

Takarangi is very poor. He's big and strong but f**ks up reads all the time.

Either way Idris is a gun defender. It seems Jokers wild is just talking shit, maybe missed tackle stats do lie...muppet. Try watching games.

Missed tackle stats do lie, sometimes. A player who attempts more tackles might miss more. I remember Richard Swain having some high missed tackle counts - but also massive tackle counts. The bloke just threw himself into tackles lazier merkins wouldn't be within 5m of.

I doubt this scenario applies to Jamal.

I don't even know what stats he is talking about because I just checked Idris in his six games this year against Matai and Morris and he is making more tackles then both and missing less per game. I stand by my original claim re Idris defence, best in his position.

wouldn't say the best, but it is amongst some of the leagues best. alot of impact, but you wouldn't say as consistent and safe as someone like josh morris or jamie lyon

I think he just has a reputation for bad defence from his days at the Dogs and Tits. Also missed tackle stats can be misleading, it could be his defensive reads that make him a bad defender and that would never show up in the statistics.

Idris defence has been consistently good since last year, cant speak for it before then. Josh Morris is really the only person id entertain at this point. Lyon and Hodges maybe a few years ago but not now. Matai is certainly the best and biggest hitter at the position but can be caught out positionally a bit.

Aiken is showing he is a great defender but he is a rookie who has played 12 games for the best defensive side in the comp so I'd wait until he has a season under his belt before including him in this conversation.

Jennings at his best defensively(2013 onwards) is right up there but he hasn't been always putting in defensively this season.

when i said consistent, i meant across the entire 80 minutes as well as over numerous games, because idris can take some chances he's not as consistent as those blokes hence the misstackle stats being claimed. it's the same criticism of matai you have just without the semi-shoulder charges and overaggession
