I think that would be fair.

When are you likely to have the final list Drew? Loving your work bud!

I think Mis was looking at starting the draft come saturday? If this list is near complete, should give us ample time to finalize our keeps

9 million seems a fair amount.

It's going to be bloody hard to get to 29 players with that

Make it a little bit harder for everyone.

I may have another manager lined up

Awesome. Looks like Shenzhen and Sydney are the free sides, as He Who Shall Not Be Named is taking over at Machu Picchu.

Their new name: Piss Off Perverse.

3 million, 187,500 average across 16 players. What quality will those be, 5/5? Less?

Drew, what are shitty 5/5s worth in your system? A cap this small will need some futures players scouted, for sure.

Good question.

I want teams to not be overpowered, but I don't want to force people to field teams of 5/5s either. Ideally, 7/6 or so would be the 'average player' in terms of both salary and team composition.

If you can't fill your team with 75% at that rating and the rest as low-rated young guns, then the system needs tweaking.

That's what we're debating now

I've seen everything from $8 million (impossible) up to $12 million (probably too high) thrown out.

The avg for a 5/5 [assume it's ATT & DEF] is $254k. Ranging from Tony Gigot $494k to Nathan Mason $67k.

If 5/5s are $254,000 and we have $178,000 per player for thirteen, the cap definitely needs to come up.

As I say, the sim is designed to handle 7/6 or so being the average. If we fill sides with 5/5s, we'll get oddly low scoring games. Too far the other way and you get weirdly high scoring games.

We either need to make those midrange players more affordable or lift the cap to ensure sides can afford them.

If this were a bigger league, it would be fine to have 5/5s mixed in, but with just 14 teams, there's no reason guys playing top level footy should be unemployed while QLD Cup guys get contracts.

We've only retained our thirteen as well, and we would hardly want our benches filled with NSW cup players. Maybe an allowance of 350k each for the four bench players, 250k each for 4 backups, 175k each for four more backups, and 100k each for four juniors. 1.4+1+.7+.4. 3.5M for these players. Obviously these specific allocations can be f**ked with by a smart drafting coach. This would also mean injuries would be a bitch, but it would more closely mimic a real football side.

Right now we all have roughly 6m of value, give or take, so i'd say 9.5m if we want a strict research driven draft. There really won't be any room for mistakes. If we wanna splurge a bit and make it exciting, maybe up it to 10m, maybe even 10.5m.

Right now in the draft we have cameron smiths and gareth widdops and kurt gidleys available, but no one in their right mind would take any of them with such a limited budget.

Its a balancing act...and a tough one!
You don't want the likes of Smith/Widdop/Gidley/Marshall to be clubless, but at the same time, our 29 players shouldn't all be superstars. Take into account that our 14 teams include ESL as well as NRL players, the cream will rise to the top and it may not be from the same bottle.

Like in the 29, you'd want at least 4 junior type players, and within the other 25, ideally a few fringe players like in real life.

There should be top guys who miss out on contracts, simply because A) The NRL is 16 teams, we have 14. We include ESL players. We are working within a salary cap. Not too sure on everyones opinion, or what the aim of the system is, but I'd say including juniors/fringe first graders should also be taken into account
