Still got my LYNX. Colour! and portable but how heavy does it seem now.

The Lynx is a fab machine, had a couple of those over the years. Terrific games on it, and had some good link up games, from memory you could link up eight together for some games. Used to love Blue Lightning on it, a nice little Afterburner type shooter:)

Got a NES SNES and N64 with about 25 games each.

At some point I want to hunt down Link to the Past and Super Metroid for SNES.

Also want a US SNES with copies of Earthbound, Super Mario RPG and Chronotrigger

I had to pay $40 for LTTP and...gah...$60 for Super Metroid.
Worth it.
Actually had a productive weekend, buying Mortal Kombat and Earthworm Jim (SNES), Metal Gear and Mario 2 (NES) and Abe's Oddyssee (PS1).

Also, FINALLY bought a Master System, Alex Kidd and Wonder Boy come at me (and California Games!)

All this retro game talk is making me gamey. I'm off to rage some streets :D laters ;-)

Streets of Rage 1&2...brilliant! Don't have any old classic SEGA hardware now though, just one of those cheap handhelds with emulated MD games on it, but it does the job for a quick blast of the old Megadrive games:)

Anyone here used to have a Commodore 64 and/or an Amiga 500?

Some of my favourites

Midnight Resistance
Moonstone
Shadow of the Beast
Rampage
Silkworm
Pang
Microprose Soccer

I've seen boxed copies of LttP and SM go for well over 100.

If i had money to burn...it would be pretty awesome to get one. However :(

Still have our sega megadrive although haven't tried to use it in a few years now. It's a bit of an effort just to get it working.

Streets of rage was probably my favourite game on it.

Guys, come on, use an emulator. Sure it's not the same but gets the job done :D

No, it isn't the same thing at all, you're right about that.
Emulators are nothing but cheap rip-offs.

I have my old stuff mainly for collection/nostaligia purposes. Wouldn't trade them or sell them for anything. However...

When it comes to actually playing old games I usually go with the emulator. It's convenient, reliable and looks better on these newfangled LCD screens.

This.

Plus you can record gameplay footage, and so much more on PC.

The original consoles/computers are fantastic for the nostalgic purpose...but unless you are a hardcore collector quite impractical to have a room full of old, often unreliable gear to play some classics. Imagine going older than MD cartridges...how much fun is it to still load ZX spectrum games from tape (if the magnetic software still works).
This is where emulators are great. Imagine playing older arcade classics without MAME, needing a warehouse of old unreilable machines when MAME gives you the biggest 80s arcade you saw at your fingertips! ;-)

As I mentioned, I have one of those cheap Blaze Handheld Megadrive units, with an SD card covering the MD library. It's not quite as good, but does the job without space or reliability issues! Streets of Rage 1 or2... The Road Rash series, Ghosts n Goblins, Sonics...bam! In your pocket, ready to go without digging out consoles or carts and getting them to go!

Exactly. I don't know why so many people don't see it this way.
