Richardson calls for suburban footy to be axed

An extra 5k  massive interest there

The SCG is the worst stadium to watch RL bar none

Just leave Leichhardt to the Storm, Cowboys type matches. You'll get your 18-20k on a fine Sunday.

Games with potential 30k crowds should be played elsewhere (they shouldn't be at the SFS btw).

This thread is about EVERY Sydney club home game to be played at the SFS/ANZ. No more games at Parramatta, Penrith, Kogarah, Leichhardt, Campelltown, Brookvale, Shark Park and WIN.

Those arguing for the change are using the odd blockbuster between teams close to ANZ. There is absolutely NO proof that this will help Manly, Penrith. Parra, Wests, Saints and Cronulla.

You also shaft the people of the Illawarra completely - one of our biggest junior nurseries.

This also will take the clubs ability away to negotiate the best deal for itself. Wests do brilliantly from 3 grounds - likewise Saints from 2. Parra use their 2 ANZ games to keep the Parra Stadium Trust honest.

PLay them all at ANZ and ANZ is in the negotiation box seat.

Try selling Panthers memberships by moving all their home games 40ks further away. It would also deliver the western suburbs to the GWS.

It is a f*cking ridiculous proposition by a dinosaur of a CEO from a dinosaur club. Only a complete dumb f*ck would support it.

Try selling memberships for any of the clubs for games played at Homeless Stadium.

Why would anyone shell out to attend a ground where the view is lesser than that at home on TV.

Not to mention the logistical issues... ie.. How does the fat f**kwit from 5(c)uff$ propose that as many as 8 matches are run in Sydney on weekends across 2 venues ?
Not to mention the penalty to clubs of Monday night matches.

When the f**k have 8 matches been played in Sydney in the same round?

One week of moderate rain and ANZ would not even hold up to 3 (6 with NYC) matches. The SFS just scrapes through with one game of Onion and a game of League in those conditions

Can you read ?

When there are 8 matches each weekend (and likely to be more in the future) there is a good chance that there will be "as many as 8 matches" in Sydney in a weekend.
Particularly if the incompetent fools who currently schedule matches remain in charge.

The way Dunniesman and the other 5(c)uff$ fans carry on, Richardtonne could drop a turd, call it gold and they would claim to be rich.

I see the Saints fans have comprehension issues.

Go and have a lash at your own CEO:

St George Illawarra recently received $30 million worth of upgrades to WIN Jubilee and WIN Wollongong, but chief executive Peter Doust agreed with Richardson such a move may be necessary in the future.
"We can't stick our heads in sand - economics are important," Doust said.
"It would (cause an uproar if we moved). Fans have celebrated and enjoyed the great passion of our home grounds but rugby league is a professional sport and a lot of fans respect quality amenities.
"We may not be able to continue upgrading our grounds so I can see some difficulties ahead."

In any case, there is no Sizzlers near the SFS, so that would rule out the move for their fan base.

I know where that passage came from but you would do well to provide a source.

I doubt very much that you will find many if any Saints fans who think much of Doust.
For some reason Richo seems to be held at the same level of credibility that Searle once was.

Yes, the quote is from the opening post.

I doubt that the majority of Souths fans are fond of Richo either.

Doesn't change the fact that the boss of your club agrees with Richo, the same guy you are castigating.

Sorry, it's about 3k more than half full. That's amazing! The NRL is just dying to have these fixtures in 150k capacity stadiums.

Give me a break scab your club claims 20,000 members and barely gets average crowds and we have yet to play a Sydney team at home bar Penrith who only have a dozen fans that travel to away games.

The only time these Sydney derbies are in demand are when it's in a grand final qualifier. Until then suburban grounds are the go.

So how do the Roosters have this massive support, when they currently average 12k for their home gates this year? That is the lowest in Sydney.

Try again.

Storm, warriors, cowboys, brisbane, GCT, raiders ----> CSG & LSG

The rest -----SFS.

But only if it helps them financially.

Played Canberra, Penrith & NZ so far this. We haven't played a real Sydney team - penrith only had 11 fans at the game in round 2. We don't claim 20,000 members either.

You still need to quote the actual post or article.

Doust and Irvine are by lines in the article.
Richo is looking to justify his food bill.

That's right, your best crowd each year is the Anzac game, take that out and your average is poor. Same as other clubs that have marque games, but it is more stark for the Roosters.

Also, why knock any team that signs new members? Who cares if they are not all ticketed, it still brings more revenue to the game.

Are you a League or AFL fan?

Richo is probably looking for his next gig anyway.

No one with any sense agrees that all games should be moved to 2 Stadiums.
Those arguing that a few big games a year shouldn't be moved are kidding themselves.

8 posts  what is your real account?

How can the Anzac game be our biggest draw card when we only host it every second year?

As for knocking the Scabs' membership babe it's because most of their members

1- received a free membership
2- don't exist
3- member numbers are counted as people who bought the bunny sticker for their car

Amazing how the scabs have all these members but still averaged less per game by big brother Easts.

Correct, the year you have the game as your home game, it is always your #1 gate for the year.

Souths home gates have averaged more than the Roosters each year since 2007.
That is despite them never making the finals.

So for you to say that Rooster to Rabbitohs fans at 5 to 1 is fantasy.
