Flanagan is the only choice, financially. I doubt we could afford anyone else.

Brown had a merged Saints Illawarra team well above the cap and couldn't crack a GF.

You mean a young and inexperienced coach who was coaching his ex-team mates couldn't get them to fire. The issue was authority, not his skill. Wayne Bennett stated the dragons were in fine shape when he arrived.

He hasn't done anything remarkable ever since.

How he has transformed the huddersfield Giants from cellar dwellers at constant risk of relegation, to a top quality side that often chanllenges Leeds, St Helens, Wigan, and Bradford, etc. as well as getting them to the Challenge Cup Final - no... Nothing significant. If Flannagan gets the sharks to 5th-6th position next year, it is just as significant as the Giants ascent.

He is overrated because of his profile.

Only in your opinion. After his Dragons stint, no one wanted him and rightfully so. But his success in the Super League is a great testament to his abilities.

Flanagan is a great choice.

I hope so. But we will see.

There is no better in technical/tactical coaching as Brownie.
If the players execute his game plans they will win more then they lose.

100 players.

A fair cross section.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

100 players out of a total of how many? A fair cross section really doesn't answer the question. They never give details of first grade or representative experience, let alone the club they come from.

Furthermore, the signifance of this poll is very likely to be insignicant. Any survery results should have a p-test conducted and it should be greater than 0.05. Meaning that everytime the poll is replicated you should get the same results 95% of the time. Clearly, with the sample size this would not be achieved.

Has anyone actually heard from Reefy?

I am seriously worried about him. He was really losing the plot in the last 10 weeks and I don't think he could cope with this.

All im wondering , is what it really took , behind closed doors.

All I'm wondering is why do you spend so much time in an opposition team's forum?

And unfortunately for you, I highly doubt it was the erotic porno scene you would hope for to use those 19" guns to whack off.

Why is it so hard for your Ricky-lovers to see that he's been the major cause of our poor onfield performance for the past 3 years? Kimmorley was never the handbrake, it was Ricky's coaching style. Even in 2008 we were hardly convincing depite finishing top of the table. For those who may have forgotten our attacking record was the second WORST in the competition. Only tough defence kept us in the game and now that's disappeared we are stuffed.

We don't need to buy anyone. We just need a coach who can give the players some confidence instead of bagging them out every week by telling the media what a useless bunch they are.

Ricky needs to leave, but despite my disgust at the style of football he seems to favour I think he has developed a bunch of players with a lot of talent. If Flanagan lets them perform the way I think they can then I think that Stuart deserves a lot of the credit. However they will never reach their potential so long as Stuart hangs around and persists in stifling their ability and confidence.

Flanagan is a backward step.

We need someone who is proven so they can have a chance at attracting players, or someone from outside who can bring some with them.

Flanno does neither.

Ditto

I can't speak about flanno's coaching ability as I have not been coached by the bloke. I can speak of his relationship with past players he has coached and it isn't praise. "Arrogant" is the appropiate term to use.

As for Ricky, i must admit i can't blame the bloke for walking out next year, but surely he knew what he was in for this year and the next. It seems to me like he has taken the easy way out.

I find it odd that when i clicked on to the sharks website at the start of the year Ricky popped up telling me how important the season was for all involved and how important it was to stay solid as a fan...pitty the same couldn't be said about himself

Why are people writing Flanagan off before he has even been given a go?

Any predictions for the 'Sack Flanagan' threads to start by?

Thanks Ricky.

This has been a tough year, hot on the heels of a devastating year.

I personally think you've been great for the club. As a kid I absolutely loved cheering for you as a player, and I always thought we were in with a chance with you as head coach.

You very publicly stuck by the team and the players in what was arguably our darkest hour - a storm created outside your sphere of control. But you took all the hits brought about by wayward players and management, etc. You did it with all the grit you always displayed on the field.

Until this news, I never saw you take a backward step, and only wish you'd had a little more luck in the Shire.

Good luck, and thanks for working so bloody hard for us.

I will be accused of serous man love here, and fair enough I guess, but living in another country I won't get the chance to shake his hand and buy him a beer. Something I would have liked to have done.

If your referring to me, well i wouldn't say im knocking the bloke's coaching ability, but more his "relationship" with players. One of the most important aspects of attracting players is a likeable coach. If guy's don't like the bloke they aint going to play under him!

The coach won't win us the comp, its the players he brings over that will
