Things went to crap in 2004.

I personally though 03 was a better year than 02 as well.

Yep, my mistake. I think they would've toppled the Roosters had they made it to the final in 03'.

Ricky turned a world class team into the rabble you see today.

Super effort by the "Super" coach :D

Whatever chump. It's a hell of an effort to attain the country, Origin, and success he's had.

First GF win for the Chooks in 20 odd years not long ago, and two grand finals not long after that.

He got hit by a high roster turnover of key players, but he's not the first, and he won't be the last. It's a knee-jerk reaction of the highest order.

Against opposition who made it to the final by a fluke, Huddersfield are fighting relegation.

They should be fine and avoid that. Some inconsistent performances have seen them slide a bit.

They should simply promote Flanigan from the lower grades, he has done wonders with his sides the last few years.

Lam wouldn't be a bad one either i'd say.

Just PLEASE dont get Anderson. Improvement equals zero over Stuart.

Won many grand finals yourself lately?

Taken your team to three grand finals lately?

Coached your state to Origin success, lately?

Coached your country to an ANZAC test win lately?

I think he's done a good job. Talk to the contrary is diabolical envious jibber.

So i take it in over 9,000 posts you've never criticised any player not even once? I'm sure you have many many times. Hell you even start threads about them. Clinton Toopi ring a bell? Played an NRL or Superleague game yourself lately?

I'd say the board know whats going on behind the closed doors, have seen the light and cut all ties (even to the extent of paying off for the last year.).

Sticky was just lucky to be surrounded by class when all he has is arse. (Sticky was a great player btw jtbc.)

This makes me sick to my stomach. I always knew that scummy club would knife Ricky in the back one day. I'm glad he's out of there....I just wished Stick walked away on his own accord.

It's not his fault that that slimebag club runs a transit lounge with no soul.

hahah any chance to dig the knife in.

Some of you are hilarious, you criticise Stuart all year saying how he is a crap coach and the Roosters are crap blah blah, now it's poor Stuart the Roosters treated him badly.

....as for those who suggested it is a knee-jerk reaction.....2 years of hopelessly underperforming displays is not a knee-jerk. It was a long tiem coming!

I agree. As much as I hate Stuart and love it when the Roosters lose, three grand finals and a premiership in five years is an amazing achievement.

You would have to be nuts to coach for the Roosters. One bad year and you are gone - no matter how poor the recruitment policy of the club has been. He has had a fair bit of bad luck with injuries and some absolute dud buys to work with this year (Anasta, Harrison).

He'd be a fair asset for any club who'll allow him the time to build a great team. The Roosters have never ever been that sort of club.

Ricky Stuart is my 2nd favourite player of all time. I have never had anything but respect for him....even in his role as coah of a scummy club.

Oh contrare.... err, have you?

My point is this

5 seasons
3 Grand Finals
1 Grand Final win
1 Minor Premiership
1 out of 1 Origin series success
1 out of 1 test match success

"Turned a world class team into the rabble you see today"? No. You could counter argue that he took a team who hadn't won a grand final in 20 years to winning one. However, that's far too simplistic a view of things. Far too simplistic. The old cliche "the buck stops with the coach" is becoming outdated. There are a myriad of stakeholders who have a vested interest and input into the outcome of a club. To feeble mindedly put it that the Roosters won solely because of Brad Fittler is rank ordinary comment. That's the part that ryles me the most in the criticism of Ricky Stuart. That does a severe injustice to Craig Fitzgibbon, Luke Ricketson, Craig Wing, Anthony Minichiello, Luke Phillips, Simon Bonetti, Peter Cusack, Adrian Morley, Shannon Heggarty and the like who were managed well enough to hit in most cases career best form under Stuart for 3 out of his 5 seasons. That's not a bad effort whatsoever from the club, or the coach. To label either a failure or to label either solely reliant on Brad Fittler is a load of horsecr@p and completely and utterly unjustified.

Stuart's record speaks for itself.

This has got to be a no-brainer.

John Lang...... look at what he accomplished with Penrith given the right timeframe and playing/coaching staff. He took the chocolate soldiers from the spoon to the title in 2 seasons!

No reason he can't do the same at Bondi.

Just outta interest.... will this affect Ricky Stuart's roll as Australian coach?
