Eh.. You cant win it every year.. Storms wheels fell off after Origin, they have struggled for a couple of months. Not surprised to see them out in straight sets.
Good overall season. I enjoyed it. I'm not let down by the Storm.

As for age of the Big 3.. They are fine.. another few good years in them.

Good years - yes

Dominant years - Highly doubtful.

It just starts to decline after 30. Even if its only a fraction, it all adds up and the younger blokes just get more from their bodies.

Noone is saying he should be small. Obviously props need to be big. But when you are paid good money to be a professional athlete there is no excuse for that much fat.

His excuse is that he gets the job done at the size he currently is.

Is he the best player ever? Is he incapable of improvement? Of course not. He can get better. He owes to the clubs that pay him good money to be at peak fitness.

To be honest people like Kasiano and Rose who have guts are a bad look on the sport. No professional athlete should have excess body fat.

In response to the OP, I think it less about their age and more than the other NRL teams have changed their style and instead of trying to copy the Storm they have adapted a more positive style that beats the Storm.

Happy to sign Rose. Not because he's a star but because i have always liked him (listening to him on the radio was hilarious as well). Hope he goes well for us.

In a physical sport like league carrying some extra weight isn't always a bad thing. Some players are able to use it to their advantage like Kasiano and fifita. Not everyone is the same body shape and not every athlete should have the same goals to reach maximum performance.

Lots of teams are still using a very similar style to us including the ones we lost to in the finals. I'd say it's more that we simply aren't the best at that grindy style of football anymore. We need to play a more up tempo style of football but i think this has been coming for some time.

The Storm hurt less teams than any other by not poaching and it is a testimony to their ability with a thread debating their possible decline. People should be more concerned about their team getting to the top and more importantly staying there. Souths/Roosters might be hot shots this year but compared to Manly/Melbourne they're still a piss in the ocean

f**k up popeye.

Rose will do well. Bellamy's best attribute as a coach is his ability to make fairly ordinary or past it front rowers into very good metre eaters and workers. Jesse Bromwich is just about the best front rower doing the business these days.

Melbourne will be there or thereabouts for the next 3 or 4 seasons but I think the rest of the pack has caught up.

Strong irony in here....

People are into the the Big 3 suggesting time may have caught up with them but their side was disposed of by a team containing quite a few players well over the 30 mark and some closing in on 40 who have been dubbed by the media as "Benny and the Vets."

Now there's some real rocket science, well done, there might be someone reading the forum from another planet who doesn't know

Slater is still outstanding and will break Ken Irvine's very famous try scoring record if he stays fit.
Cronk is not in the same class as Slater or Smith but has enough dedication and will to improve to see him be a very good player.
Smith is the smartest footballer we've seen for a long time.

Keep it up, you're on a roll, not entirely accurate but at least it's talking League.

That was trolling I think, not very satisfying . . . don't know what you see in it

George Rose. Will Bellamy tolerate his bodyfat %?

How much do you have to eat to still carry a gut after all the calories burnt in training and in games.

I don't think Rose is professional enough for them, don't see it going well. But it just goes to show the caliber of player they are forced to sign because they didn't make the right decision when they chose to keep all 3 of the big 3 deep into their 30s on mega money.

Up on your high horse because your team is still in it ?...I do support your position though.

The NRL has pretty much bought Melbourne's success for the next 6 years with the extra $4.2mill a year they are getting (and with good reason). If you think they are going to be a Parramatta anytime soon you are deluded.

All satellite clubs will get preferential treatment until the log jam in Sydney sorts itself out, pity I won't be around to see it

It's not like Parra are struggling because they are broke. Broncos are a prime example in recent years that money alone will not get you success. I don't see us being cellar dwellars anytime in the near future but our success isn't guaranteed because of money.

Not on a high horse at all. For a long time I'd had a major problem with fat athletes. A terrible look for the sports they play and completely beyond my understanding because if I was paid to play sport like them I'd treat my body like a temple to make the most of my opportunities.

Could you get any dumber? Parramattas problems have nothing to do with money. They have money. Financially they are miles ahead of a club like Cronulla and they're still going terrible because they're not making good football decisions. It is not a lack of money.

And that extra 4 million Melbourne gets does not give them extra capspace. They have the same capspace as everyone else. They got phenomenally lucky with Slater and Inglis and Smith. They could go years without finding another player like that.
