RLWC2017 Crowd Watch

By having these alternate ticket sites can impede actual ticket sales. For instance, if someone has looked at the "viagogo" site and seen the sold out message for the France v Lebanon game then these people will more than likely give up on buying tickets! Not good at all! It's bad business!

Isn't viagogo for re-selling tickets?

PAX Numbers are not necessarily an accurate guide for sales, infact they can be significantly different to what the actual crowd number is.

To begin with, PAX is just an incremental key for tickets printed relating to what is known as a Ticketek build. They don't have to start at 1 to begin with and arguably can be any number those making the build set it.

Secondly, there is not necessarily a 1:1 relationship between a build and an event. A single event can be broken up so sections of the venue are seperate builds and thus each have seperate PAX numbers. A good example of this is Origin at ANZ Stadium. The PAX numbers for Blatchys & the Queensland section are completely different than general sales for the event, this is because the NRL breaks the event into seperate builds.

Thirdly not all patrons require a Ticketek ticket to get in. Plenty of venues issue entry to an event seperate from Ticketek. Corporate Hospitality & Venue Membership is usually the most common scenarios. For example, if Allianz members are able to pre-book a seat to England v Lebanon, this will not count towards the PAX we see printed on everyone else's tickets.

So PAX only truely showcases movement from one point to another, ie we know between Thursday last week and Monday this week that 1,700 tickets were issued for Melbourne for the build we all keep looking at.

People type up "Rugby league world cup tickets" and get 'viagogo' Simple as that!
I have tickets for the western side middle bay. It only went on sale for 2 days. Very weird. Is there a chance I'm going to be sitting on my own?
Also, what about tickets sold over the counter? Assuming there is somewhere in melbourne cbd (near the league of legends) where you can buy tix?

What do we reckon the profit margins are on these PNG games??

Cos if they are getting 20-25k to games and there's decent profits to be made then surely its a viable tour destination for every RL nation!

Absolutely. Leagues need to set up alternative revenu streams outside of Aus/NZ/Eng games!

UK Forum poster said the following:

Just been to the ground to collect my tickets (which I was unable to do) and was told by media accreditation staff that 22,000 tickets have been sold so far.

I would like to think that the Upper Western will be entirely sponsors/free tickets whatever.

For comparison sake, the Storm v Eels match in Week 1 on the Finals got 22,500 and on watching the YouTube highlights the TV side looks packed.

I wonder if that 22,000 does NOT include all the corporate packages/tour packages etc?

The RLWC people are very quiet.
Wonder why haven't made any official announcements re ticket sales. Are they smugly satisfied? Are they fleeing the country?

It wont sell out.

Bays 83 and 89 have just become available on the Upper Western side. Given the layout of the seats on sale, I would not be surprised if any tickets that have been sold at all.

When you can still get 10 tickets in a row in the lower tier, 8 bays in the upper tier all still available and the whole southern end behind the goals has just been opened to the public, I highly doubt that 25k tickets have been sold.

Apart from the Upper Western Tier there is only approx 500 tickets available, the entire Western Upper Tier holds approx 6,000 with a stadium capacity of 30,000. So with this in mind 25k is not that far fetched.

We know that the Upper Western has had some sales into it, as there are people on this forum who bought into it when it went on sale a couple of weeks back.

In addition, would you think, if the entire section was empty, they'd start selling from around the 20-30 metre lines? They would of course put the middle bays on sale first, as these are both the ones which are most highly desired, and as well would appear in the majority of reverse shots on TV, as such we can assume at least the first half of these Bays most likely have people in them (they may leave the back of these Bays empty as that's less visible)

As for the Bays which are on-sale, if you scroll over the 'Grey' seats, you will see they will either show up with a 'overlay' of 'Sold Seat' or 'Unavailable Seat'.

Unavailable's are most likely seats still on hold, but Sold seats would be allocated in some manner. 83 definitely has a lot of seats in the Bay marked as Sold, versus 89, the far back rows look to be unavailable.

Seats Per Bay in this area is as follows:
81 - 168 (Assume 0)
82 - 469 (Assume 0)
83 - 421 (Around 80 Sold)
84 - 601 (Assume 300 Sold)
85 - 565 (Assume 280 Sold)
86 - 520 (Assume 260 Sold)
87 - 565 (Assume 280 Sold)
88 - 601 (Assume 300 Sold)
89 - 421 (Around 180 Sold)
90 - 469 (Assume 0)
91 - 168 (Assume 0)

So worse case, we'd be around 1,680 of the 4,968.... could be worse...

They have just opened some more CAT B for the Kiwis vs Samoa game and it looks like they have sold a few more CAT C tickets as some of those bays have sold out.
