Journalists are the peak of Rugby League knowledge. Phil Rothfield being a prime example...
Kurt is a much better fullback than he is a halfback, and he's a much better fullback than Shannon McDonnell. If one was to choose our best 17 and Kurt was first cab off the rank, I'm sure he'd be penciled in beside number one and not number seven. I our improvement in the back half of the season had a lot more to do with the quality of our opposition (when we came up against in-form sides we did not compete, eg. Raiders, Storm, Dragons), Mullo being back at 6 and the resurgence of players like Isaac De Gois, Cooper Vuna and Adam MacDougall.
Really, victories over a Lockyer-less Brisbane, Cronulla and the Bulldogs are nothing to beat our chests about the effectiveness of our team with Gidley at halfback.
1. Kurt Gidley (c)
6. Jarrod Mullen
7. Beau Henry
9. Isaac De Gois
