Robbie Farah gone?

oh, the luv for Robbie is obvious. The guy comes across as an arrogant shit.

Don't try to change history dude, he was one of the main characters in the downfall of two coaches which the club has paid a squillion for, and is more concerned with origin in the last few years,

I not saying he hasn't played some brillant football for the club but don't tell me there is not more to this than the salary cap.

So why are you taking the word of Farah (when he hasn't said a word)forgetting the rest of your pitiful post?

it's not Farah love. It's about looking at the situation clearly.

Farah said last year repeatedly, before, during and after the Potter saga, that the coach had the full support of all the players.

What has Tallis ever said or done that demands respect for him as a journalist or commentator?

I have never stated that Farah had no involvement in the downfall of any coach, because I, like you and everyone else, has no idea whether he has or not.

I'm not going to make an assumption that he has based on the dribblings of a f**king moron.

I'm not trying to change history.

History does show that Sheens said he would stand down if the Tigers didn't make the finals in 2012, and when they didn't, he failed to step down. He made his own bed there.

History also shows that this club has quite a history of turning it's back on contracted players and staff.

History shows you that this club is a shambles, there has been no leadership for many years by anyone because they are all too busy fighting over trying to return the Balmain Tigers or the Magpies.

Farah isn't responsible for all of that.

Just try having an open mind. I know Farah has a massive ego and is arrogant and I have stated that he has lost us many games in the past.

I think you're being immature by claiming I have some sort of love for the bloke, or that Tallis is a respected journalist who should be believed over Farah.

A man can be arrogant and egotistical but still have integrity.

I've got no problem with letting Farah go as he's on massive overs relative to his form & impact @ this late stage of his career. However I can't c any club paying him more than half the money his on with us so financially it's still a massive burden on us while he's playing for the enemy.

So many decisions this moronic club has made have haunted us for many yrs & the Farah saga will continue the trend.

It's amazing how gumps & innumerate people like humpty continue to be gainfully employed in executive positions.Humpty must cast a spell on the job interviewers/headhunters.

Where will he end up? Some of the potential suitors for him mentioned here I don't think are realistic. I can't see the Raiders being interested in Farah. They've unearthed a great player in that English lad Hodgson who could easily become an 80 minute hooker. As it is, they get a decent 1-2 punch when Baptiste slots in for 10 minutes a half. Then again, Farah always seemed to think Sticky was the bees knees and who knows, Stuart might consider letting Hodgson and Baptiste go elsewhere to land Farah... would be a stupid move IMO, but we are talking about Ricky Stuart here so it's probably every chance of happening!

Dragons to go and link up with Benji? No chance. Rein is going great guns and his best footy is in front of him you'd think.

Manly? Korisau has already been signed by Barrett to go with him from Panthers... It's possible, especially if they do a swap with Ballin who I reckon would be a great fit for the Tigers. But Tigers would likely still have to pay a fair chunk of Farah's salary... And as was mentioned, if you get Ballin, he likely won't be ready to play until 2-3 months in to season 2016 on account of his ACL injury.

Souths? Would seem an obvious choice. Isaac Luke leaving and McInnes not looking ready to step up... Maguire and Farah would, on the face if it, seem like an irresistible force and immovable object kind of duo...

Others - Knights? Along with Hodkinson, could be just the tonic Newcastle need to get a new culture up there. But I don't reckon it'll happen.

Titans - another good fit and they would surely be the club that would be able to offer him the most coin. With Elgey and Taylor in the halves, Farah would bring the experience they need in the 6, 7 and 9. Nathan Friend is surely not seen as the long term starting hooker by Henry. I know Farah has a brother living in SE Qld, or at least he did a few years back, so he's got family up there which may or may not be a plus for him

No chance at Storm, Boncos, Cows, Roosters, Warriors.
Next to no chance at Dogs, Eels, Sharks, Panthers

So for mine it's either Bunnies, Titans or Super League....

If sources are correct in suggesting Lawrence and Halatau won't be at the club next year, then our oldest player next year will be Kevin Naiqama (who is currently 26 years old) and our most capped players will be:
Woods (103 games currently)
Seumanufagai - if he is re-signed (61 games)
Simona (56 games)
Sue (56 games)
Sironen (55 games)
Tedesco (50 games)
Brooks (43 games)
Taupau (43 games)
Buchanan (39 games)
Nofoaluma (38 games)
Moses (32 games)

To the people claiming his form has been WAY down on previous years, have you seen the pack he has been forced to play behind this year, have you seen the halves he has been told to give more responsibility to, have you seen the game plan coach Taylor has implemented which doesn't seem to centre around offense? Farah has been playing injured, defending as well as he ever has been (which doesn't seem to count for much on here) and has busted his gut and spilt blood for the club for over a decade. He is all signed up for the rest of his career anyway and deserved to go out on his own terms. Now we are literally going to pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars of our own salary cap to play against us. This is how we treat our clubs best ever player! This tells all the young players who are starting their careers with us that the board will show absolute ruthlessness to anyone who has been there for a long time so just look after yourself and move to bigger clubs with more money. It's f***ing ludicrous, it's an insult to lifelong tigers and WT fans like myself and it has put our club back another 3-5 years before we are remotely competitive.

yep.

You cannot command and expect loyalty from your players when you display none to those players most loyal to the club.

Id like to know what is happening behind the scenes before I make a judgement. If it has been prompted due to Farah's discontent with the coach well I kind of understand the decision , we have always demanded the club has to be stronger then individual egos. In saying that I would back Farrah over JT in this instance , and my fear is other players may also support Farah and the future player backlash could tear the club apart.

The last 3 posts. Very well said Hutch, madunit and macnaz.

Taupau deciding to move to the US might also free up some dollars but not big dollars. Others might just say, I'm out of here.

Incorrect - pretty good summary, I actually think that he will stay in OZ so he can have one last crack at SOO, stay at West Tigers but will retire a year early. A bit like Ballin and Mateo at Manly who both said we are contracted and not leaving. Robbie doesn't have to leave, he has been told he can look elsewhere.

Regarding management, I don't want to be one of those, "I heard from a friend.....' however I will. My son is mates with plenty of U20 guys who have moved on over the past 2 or 3 years, they have all said that Payten (like Farah) had nothing to do with knifing Potter, Payten had the shits with the club (not Potter) as he was being groomed and promised the 1st grade job. Then they reneged and signed Potter, the same management that then shafted Potter, signed Brooks for big dollars because Joey Johns said he was a future superstar. Signed Sironen for big dollars because Fulton said he'd play for Australia

Management are to blame and I think they should be made accountable, lets make one signing, the Roosters CFO, how good must he be?

I agree with Macnaz that the behind the scenes reasoning has not come out yet and we should hold judgement until we know more. There are strong and valid arguments from both points of view but without knowledge of what is actually happened. TBH the WT media statement rises a question or two with me as to circumstances. I can read either Farah having a dummy spit with the club direction / coaching and wanting out or the club surprising him.

This.

What a f**king shambles of a club.

people can say what they want about character or quality of Robbie but he has played his guts out here for a decade and the pattern of players/coaches not finishing contracts is indisputable.

what is wrong with this team that very few people associated with it finish out contracts? something stinks and has for a while.

You can rule the Titans out, Henry has just come out and said that they don't want him. Only option is Souths and I think he'd be a really good fit there.

A tough decision, but ultimately the correct one that had to be made.
Getting the salary cap in order should be the first (and only) priority for the back office at the moment, and this is a huge step in the right direction.
Thanks for the memories Robbie.

the Panthers lost Lewis, Jennings & Gordon in 2012, was dark times for panther fans who couldn't fathom losing 3 of our best players at that time. 3 years later & we are in a better position as a team & club. well except the shitty injuries and poor season this year.....

I think the Tigers will be better off without Robbie (that's not to say Farah's a bad player, he's a bloody great player), but having all that past history lingering (coaches, Chewbacca's comments etc) disappearing, will give the club a fresh outlook in a new chapter for the tigers.

Got some great kids in that team, they are the future of the tigers and I think Farah needs to understand that, just gotta keep working hard as a team & a club, the results will come.

do the tigers have the option of paying Farah's contract out? I know it would be something astronomical which they can't afford, but if they could, does this count towards the cap for next season etc? Unsure how all that stuff works.

agree with everyone else though, if the Tigers are paying part of his contract to play elsewhere in the NRL, don't release him. that's just stupid. get your money's worth.

Listening to Robbie's presser this morning he states;

* as far as he is concerned he is still under contract and a Wests Tiger for the next two years
* he said he was told if he stays he might be playing reserve grade next year, then changes his tune to will be playing reserve grade next year.

Well done Wests Tigers, even though the guy might be a p.i.a. behind the scences (based on pure media speculation), you have just proven what a rabble we are on and off the field.

This is a tough one to take. I can totally understand the clubs decision, but given that:

a) We will still be paying a chunk (likely large) of his contract for the next two seasons, and;
b) Most good players for 2016 have already been snapped up

Anyone who expects us to improve next season based on this decision is seriously deluded.

2016 will be another write off. I hope everyone is comfortable with that, because we will be practically fielding a 20s team.

Well, now it seems the club has taken a hard decision. Boy, is WT going to cop some flak. Yes, Farah deserves respect for past achievements and carrying the load for sooooo long but at some stage things have to move along. Farah is not what he was a few seasons ago.

Gee, this club sucks big time at gracing players with long term contracts and it blowing up in their faces. 'd say this move is necessary but its going to be a PR mess.

I wonder if the club even approached him about re-negotiating the terms of his contract to help the clubs cap problem?
