Just back from the Hills v Mounties SS game. Hills 46 defeated Mounties 16, both previously undefeated.

While it is only 4 rounds in, Hills could be the real deal if they can mainatin their discipline and stay level headed (not get big headed).

Good to see Blacktown break through in both comps. seen 3 of there four games and they have been close to winning all of them

saw the Windsor V Kingsgrove game. Colts did very well. Scoreline flatters windsor a little. Still can't see where a win for the colts will come from unfortunatley

Steve Mascord article on Asquith 5/8 Ben Fisher in the SMH:

Fans at Allianz Stadium on Sunday could have been forgiven for thinking they had encountered another victim of Friday's Homebush louts. Here was a guy walking around in an NRL polo shirt – the same as the referees' – with a freshly broken nose, a black eye and multiple facial cuts. In fact, our battered warrior was former Scotland hooker Ben Fisher, who works for the league in match-day management. "I promised to play one more season with my junior club at Asquith," Fisher, wearing dark sunglasses, told Set of Six. "I regret it now – someone got me with a shoulder charge. I don't remember anything. I checked myself into hospital. I've got to address a group of business people next week with a new business I've started. Not ideal."

Just back from the Hills v Wenty SS game - top of the table clash.

Top game of football.

Hills 34-18. The young Hills fullback scored another double, 11 tries in 5 games, goes alright for a 19 year old playing in this open age comp.

Hills are red hot favourites now. Windsor won their first 4 games but conceded 7 tries to cabra today so the Wolves have benefited from a moderate fixture list to date.

Definitely a capable side and have the ability to win the comp, but there is still a long way to go. Wouldn't right off any side at this stage of the season.

Shield is hard to predict given Peninsula coasted to the minor premiership last year and then the wheels fell off in the finals.

They're looking a much less threatening side this year. A lot of young players been given starts, not sure if they've had players leave or just injury concerns, but looks a fairly different side, particularly in the backs.

Watched the Windsor v Hills SS game over the w/e. Hills up 12-0 after as many minutes then collapsed. Mistake ridden and outplayed (dominanted) especially in the forwards for the remaining 70 minutes.

Windsor 32 - 18.

Windsor look like they could be contenders? Surprised Hills got dominated in the forwards it seemed to be there strength in the beginning rounds.

Watched the Peninsula/Belrose game. Very scrappy, but very physical. Fair few fights towards the end that resulted in couple of players placed in the sin bin. Big win for Belrose.

Surprised Asquith beat Mounties as well in SS. Mounties had a pretty fair team on paper.

After 10 minutes you would have put your house on Hills continuing on their winning way than a few unforced errors (attempting the miracle pass etc) whilst in try scoring position from the Hills side seem to change the momentum. Suddenly they were dropping off tackles allowing Windsor to get out to a substantial lead.

The comp is still wide open with plenty of games to go but I would suggest both Hills and Windsor are possible contenders.

After playing 112 games in the NRL and Super League, Kris Keating will return to his junior club Cabramatta. He is expected to play against Guildford tomorrow if the game goes ahead.

Kris Keating has kept his promise of ending his rugby league career with his junior club and has joined the Cabramatta Two Blues.
The former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels playmaker spent six seasons in the NRL before playing for English Super League side Hull KR last year.

But after his passion for the NRL fell away while contracted to the St George-Illawarra Dragons this season, Keating decided to return to his roots and play in the Ron Massey Cup.

“In the last 18 months I wasn’t really enjoying my footy and I just wanted to get a normal job like a normal person,” Keating said.
“So I now work with my dad’s company True Blue Catering and train twice a week and play on the weekends. I always said I wanted to finish my career with the club.

“Even though it is earlier than I expected, I am happy.”

Keating made his return to the side in their 36-28 loss to the Guildford Owls at New Era Stadium on Sunday.

“We went down but it was very physical and I think the standard was better than what I thought,” he said.

RMC Round 8

Cabramatta Two Blues 22 (J Davis 2, C Eyles, M Simpson tries; J Grey 3 goals) bt Blacktown Workers 20 (S Tanginoa, J Wesley Taaga, J Key, F Tuinauvai tries; A Seni 2 goals)

Cabra dominated the first half to lead 16-0 but Chris Keating did not resume after the break and when Sene Tala put through a kick for a try in the corner, it looked as if Blacktown's 20-16 lead would be enough. But a final raid in the last few minutes saw a try coverted by Jason Gray, who had a very solid game as a late replacement at full back.

Auburn Warriors 46 (T Tasi 3, S Paul Fenulitau 2, H Nanai, R Kamoto, A Little, E Sukkar, J Tia Kilifi tries; Little 3 goals) bt Western Suburbs Magpies 22 (S Gallant, P Nay, J Goring, T Morrison tries; Gallant 3 goals)

Auburn scored 8 tries in the first half for a 40-0 half time scoreline but after another try 5 minutes into the second half, decided that was enough.

Mounties 18 (J Kennedy, W Dargan, D Cahalane tries; S Aiga 3 goals) bt Wentworthville 16 (N Walker 2, M Manu tries; B Waters, H Raiwalui goals)

Mounties continued their undefeated run and ended Wenty's in a game where the lead changed several times, confirming their favourites status.

Asquith Magpies 36 (J Ingram 2, M Pearsall 2, M Daoud 2, A Groom tries; J Hawkins 4 goals) bt Windsor Wolves 24 (L Jackson 2, R Lesoa, C Aunese-Scanlan, S Tonga tries; A f**kas 2 goals)

Asquith bounced back from a loss to Mounties last start by piling on 26 points in even time after trailing at half time but allowed the Wolves back into the game before Ingram closed it out.

Guildford Owls 46 (T Olopau 2, S Shackleton 2, C Graham, S Walpole, S Suli, J Tuitahi tries; T Evans 7 goals) bt Concord-Burwood 22 (J Friend, K Pettyborne, S Fatialofa, A Mataele tries; L Schaumkel 2 goals)

The Owls have now won 3 on the trot after losing the first 4 games. They are benefiting from the leadership of Shane Shackleton in the engine room.
