Rookie of the Year???

Mortimer or Idris will win it.

The award should be renamed: First rookie the media blow their load over. Most years its all over after about a month, unless a new kid comes in halfway through the season and plays well (Hayne and Sandow spring to mind), in 2007 it was basically all over after round 1.

has anyone declared with absolute confidence weather Idris is actually eligable?
If he is, he'll be right up there with Dugan and Mortimer for a show

Big league had an article on the best rookies for 2009 where Idris was on the cover.

If you play three games the previous year then you are still classed as a rookie.

I'd give it to Tim Mannah ahead of Daniel Mortimer, just quietly. And that's if an Eels rookie is to take it out. My vote would go to Josh Dugan.

I can;t believe Jarrod Croker hasn't been talked about more often. He's been sensational for a poor side all year.

I honestly think Blake Ferguson will come out of this 09 class as one of the best.

Some of the tries he has scored are freakish and he is only 19!

Josh Dugan has only played 13 games, yet has run for 2446 metres, which is 12th overall in the NRL. He leads the NRL in metres per game with 188, with the second best metres per game, Jarryd Hayne, a whopping 20 metres per game behind. He also leads the NRL in tackle breaks per game.

Impressive stats. But what the stats don't show are the amount of try-saving tackles he makes, how he provides another playmaking option on attack and how he inspires his teammates.

Josh Dugan is clearly the best rookie to debut this year, in what has been a great year for rookies.
